Northern Ireland Renewed investigation/New information!

Family and police have released new info and launched a new appeal to find Caroline Graham, 19, who disappeared from Portadown, Northern Ireland, in 1989. She has never been seen again and police believe she was murdered and disposed of somewhere in Portadown.

Three days ago, a 76 year old woman was arrested and questioned in connection with the case, but was released without charges.

Caroline was living with her boyfriend in Hanover Street at the time of her disappearance but was originally from the Newry area. It's understood she was living in the Portadown area for around two years before her disappearance. Police think 'a small group of local people' hold the key to The case.

'“It was around Easter at the end of March 1989 and Caroline had been for a night out to the Coach in Banbridge with a girlfriend,” he (DI Peter Montgomery) said.

“She stayed part of the night with her friend in a hostel in Portadown but was gone in the morning.

“I have information that Caroline returned to Hanover Street [in Portadown] to get some clothes but she has not been seen since. I believe she was murdered some time later and that her remains are somewhere in Portadown.”

Mother's appeal:

"I have lived without Caroline for 25 years and the pain has been hard to bear. It is particularly difficult on anniversaries, birthdays and family times like Christmas.

"We haven't even had the chance to hold a funeral because Caroline's body has not been recovered.

"The police tell me the investigation is continuing, but I would just like to appeal to anyone who knows anything to tell us. Please give us peace and lay Caroline to rest."

My first question is, why was Caroline staying in a hostel when she shared a home with boyfriend? I'm presuming this wasn't a traveller's hostel, but more like a homeless shelter, or maybe a women's refuge?

'A quarter of a century after a Northern Ireland teenager disappeared without a trace, sniffer dogs have been brought to the house where she once lived as a new search begins for her.

The search is to take place at the former home of Caroline Graham, who went missing in March 1989. The 19-year-old had lived in Hanover Street in Portadown, County Armagh, with her boyfriend.'

'(Detective Peter Montgomery) added: "All our inquiries lead us to believe there is more than one person who knows exactly where Caroline is buried. We need them to come forward and tell us exactly what they know...'

This is a brand new, active search taking place today. Caroline's old home has new, totally unconnected occupants but they have given permission for the search. Warrants have also been issued for legal purposes.

'Specially trained police victim recovery dogs will be deployed in the Hanover Street home from today, where Ms Graham lived with her boyfriend.

The search is being conducted under warrant but with the consent of the current owner of the property.'

"Six weeks ago I appealed to two men, possibly off-duty soldiers, who gave Caroline a lift in a black Ford XR3i car that night to come forward. Although I am not treating them as suspects, they have yet to make contact. I would urge them to do so.'

'Items of interest' have been found during the new searches, police announced yesterday, though they are not thought to be human remains. Searches of Caroline's former home, and the immediate vicinity, are continuing.

'Forensic scientists have been asked to examine items found by specialist dogs searching for the body of a murdered woman who went missing 25 years ago.'

'It is understood that no body parts have been found at the Hanover Street property, but material of potential interest drew the attention of both of the two highly trained sniffer dogs deployed in the house'

Connecting the dots here the "items of interest" found where she lived and the bloke they keep arresting's age I'm guessing it was her boyfriend.
