    IN - Brianna DiBattiste, 25, Dunkirk, 16 June 2014

    Brianna Marie DiBattiste

Search on for missing Dunkirk woman

Brianna Marie DiBattiste, 25, has been missing nearly two weeks. Julie Hunt, DiBattiste’s mother, says the last time family members saw DiBattiste was shortly after Father’s Day. “No one has heard from her,” Hunt said, “I wish someone would come forward with information on how to find her.” DiBattiste was last seen in Dunkirk at 8 p.m. June 16.
She is scheduled to enter a guilty plea July 9 in Delaware Circuit Court 4, where she was charged last November with driving as a habitual traffic violator, a Class D felony carrying a standard 18-month prison term.

"When from a long distant past nothing persists, after the people are dead, after things are broken and scattered, still alone, more persistent, more faithful, the smell and taste of things remain poised a long, long time like souls, ready to remind us, waiting, hoping for their moment amid the ruins of all the rest, and bear unfaltering in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence the vast structure of recollection."

A FB for her, not much on it: https://m.facebook.com/brianna.dibattiste

Interesting to note that she's "not wanted for any crime" but is due in court July 9 to enter a guilty plea that will result in a standard 18-month prison sentence. Assuming she doesn't show up to court, after July 9, she will be wanted. Hope she's just living it up before prison...

'Lost': Family, Indiana police search for missing woman

    ALBANY —
Julie Hunt's voice catches in her throat when she's asked where she believes her daughter is. When she answers, the single word is barely audible. "Lost," Hunt whispers.

Police, family search for missing Jay County woman

    ALBANY, Ind. -
Seven police departments are helping to investigate a woman's disappearance that her mother fears could be connected to a dangerous drug affecting many Hoosiers. Brianna DiBattiste was last seen on Monday, June 16. Her mom, Julie Hunt, fears the worst. A growing stack of photos, file folders and flyers fill the corner of Hunt's living room. They are symbols of a desperate search. "These are phone numbers, leads, pictures. It doesn't even seem real. It just consumes me," she whispered.

Julie Hunt last saw her daughter on June 16, when the two ran into each other at a small Marathon station in Dunkirk. DiBattiste was with friends — people Hunt characterized as less-than-reputable — and buying a bag of potato chips...

The young woman told her mother about a threatening text message she had received from a woman related to a man DiBattiste had dated at some point. Neither mother nor daughter thought the threat was a great concern.

Henry — whose department is working with the Dunkirk and Jay County police departments as well as Indiana State Police — said the nature of the investigation and the tips received has made it difficult to say if he believes DiBattiste, identified by her mother as a heroin addict, is dead, being held against her will, or has disappeared of her own volition...

Hopes that DiBattiste might return to her mother’s home in Albany or her father’s home in Dunkirk are offset by the fact she hasn’t used her cellphone since 10:42 p.m. June 16 and that she didn’t appear to have packed clothes or even her toothbrush for a trip...

Julie Hunt, DiBattiste’s mother, told The Star Press Thursday she’s increasing the reward offered for information leading to her daughter’s return from $1,000 to $5,000. “I am desperate to find her,” Hunt said.

Maybe she OD'd and her "friends" disposed of her body. Such a pretty young woman...heroin is the pits. I hope she's still alive.

I have some very good friends in Dunkirk who are super active in the community. I will get this to them right now.
