The Crawford County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a possible homicide after the discovery of a body in a shallow grave behind a home near Rudy on Highway 348.

Nicholas Barrows, 19, and Jonathan Bridgewater, 27, who are half brothers, were arrested Monday on suspicion of first-degree murder.

Barrows and Bridgewater are being held at the Crawford County Detention Center as suspects in the unidentified person’s death. The body is estimated to have been buried for about a week, Crawford County Sheriff Ron Brown said.

Brown said the body is badly decomposed and unidentifiable at this time. It is believed to have been in the grave for 6-7 days.

There are no missing persons reports in Crawford County. The Sheriff's Department plans to reach out to other counties with missing persons reports.

Brown said a tip came in on Sunday night (June 29) that a body was buried in a grave behind a house on Arkansas 348. After serving a search warrant, deputies found the body, Brown said.

Authorities then searched for evidence in two houses in the area and found three pipe bombs inside one of those houses, Brown said. The bomb squad was at the site Monday morning to detonate the device, Brown said.

Jamie Plum’s family said they have filed a missing person's report for the 19-year-old, who was last seen Sunday. Police said that’s about the same amount of time they found a body in a shallow grave.

Plum’s father, James Plum, said his son was friends with Nick Barrows, one of the suspects in the homicide investigation. He said he heard they were fighting over Jamie Plum’s new girlfriend earlier this month...

Investigators said the markings and clothing on the body do not match the description they received from Plum’s family. Authorities said they will use dental records to try to identify the body. Results could take several days.

Who else would it be unless they're serial killers or something.

ummm, Jamie's FB is disturbing in many ways but especially in the multiple varied threats being thrown around ... looks like several people looking for trouble wherever they can find it

I can't actually believe that all of them aren't 12 years old

Crawford County Sheriff Ron Brown said Plum suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. A complete autopsy is pending from the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory in Little Rock...

About 2 p.m. Sunday, Crawford County deputies received notification that a complainant reported Bridgewater had shown him or her a dead body. The complainant told investigators that sometime either June 24 or 25, while at Bridgewater’s residence, 4624 Arkansas 348 near Rudy, he or she heard a gunshot, followed by screams and another gunshot, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Been reading Jamie's FB. He was an angry young man. Wonder if the veiled threats from a certain guy in his feed contributed to his death. Youngsters can be so unbelievably stupid. Even one of his aunts told him to chill it. He didn't :(

Prior to formal jury selection on Tuesday, Barrows... appeared before Judge Gary R. Cottrell in Crawford County Circuit Court and pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and possession of a firearm during commission of a felony...

Just prior to sentencing Barrows to the maximum allowed by each charge, amounting to total of 55 years, Cottrell told him that in his time as a judge he has seen horrendous offenses and said that “this one ranks right up there among the worst I’ve seen”...

Bridgewater also was convicted on a lesser charge in a separate trial on Tuesday afternoon. He pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, a Class A felony, and was sentenced to 30 years in prison at the Arkansas Department of Correction. He will be eligible for parole after serving 25 percent of his sentence, McCune said.
