    NH - Ronald Cheever, 61, Chesterfield, 4 July 2014

I hope it was ok to start this thread. I could not find one on this case
I live in the next town over, and Pisgah State Park--referenced in the article is pretty large.

Another article and video with an inteview with Ron's wife
    She is quoted
"He was in a really good mood. I just got done feeding him lunch, and he told me, ‘I want to go for a walk. Is that OK?’ And I said, ‘Make sure you take your cellphone.’ I made sure it was turned on and I stuck it in his pocket. And he went out and he said, ‘I’ll be right back. I won’t be long,’”

As the search for a missing Chesterfield man continues, his family said they are worried Ronald “Buddy” Cheever may have hitchhiked out of the area...

There were numerous sightings of someone fitting Cheever’s description on Route 9 after he was reported missing, Chesterfield Police Chief Lester C. Fairbanks said Tuesday.

Fontaine said eyewitnesses reported seeing Cheever hitchhiking and getting into a car with New Hampshire plates that was traveling toward Brattleboro.

I have the feeling this gentleman is still alive and on a great adventure and perhaps not really knowing how to get home. I hope he stays safe and finds kind people to help him.
I hope the local authorities have contacted authorities in nearby states, it seems likely he could be seen hitchhiking or walking far from home.

Efforts to find Ronald “Buddy” Cheever of Chesterfield continue today after several agencies searched the town this weekend but came up with no new leads in his disappearance...

Saturday morning a team of firefighters from Chesterfield and Spofford met to lead a new search in areas expanding farther out from Cheever’s home, Walsh said.

And on Sunday, New England K-9 Search and Rescue, a volunteer dog search team, again was deployed to continue the search in partnership with N.H. Fish and Game, Walsh said.

I live right off the road that this gentleman was last sighted on, near the town line for Chesterfield. I have been keeping an eye out myself--am NOT seeing a lot of publicity other than the articles in the paper.

For families whose loved ones have dementia, it's a difficult balance

Sixty percent of people with dementia will wander, may forget their names or addresses and become disoriented even in familiar places, according to the Alzheimer’s Association.

And as two local cases over the past year show, this can have tragic consequences.

Last July 4, Ronald “Buddy” Cheever, a 61-year-old with dementia, left his Chesterfield home. He was spotted walking south toward Pisgah State Park and has never been found.
