    WI - Timothy Miller, 14, Manitowoc, 1 July 2014

Timothy L. Miller & Devin Miller

Police seek Manitowoc man, missing boy

Manitowoc police are searching for a 14-year-old boy and his 57-year-old biological father, who is wanted for felony bail jumping in connection with a drug-related reckless homicide charge. Timothy L. Miller of Manitowoc is believed to have left the area with his son, Devin Miller, in violation of his bail and without permission from the boy's legal guardian, said Capt. Scott Luchterhand of the Manitowoc Police Department. Miller is the former husband of Kathryn Peterson, the boy's mother, who died on June 17. Peterson had remarried to Dabian Peterson, 51, of Manitowoc, who now has legal custody of the boy.
Peterson allowed Miller visitation with Devin through July 4. Peterson contacted police on July 1 when he heard that Miller was going to Canada with the boy to avoid facing the reckless homicide charge. A witness reported seeing the two on July 1 in a cab, which took them to a bus area in Green Bay. The cab driver told authorities they were talking about going to Wisconsin Dells. Others interviewed by police said they had heard they were moving to Florida, California or Mexico.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

"When from a long distant past nothing persists, after the people are dead, after things are broken and scattered, still alone, more persistent, more faithful, the smell and taste of things remain poised a long, long time like souls, ready to remind us, waiting, hoping for their moment amid the ruins of all the rest, and bear unfaltering in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence the vast structure of recollection."

I wonder why there is no Amber Alert. Does the son not meet the criteria?

Timothy L. Miller, of Manitowoc, is believed to have left the area with his son, Devin R. Miller, in violation of his bail and without permission from the boy's legal guardian, said Capt. Scott Luchterhand of the Manitowoc Police Department.

Police obtained a photo of the two taken at an ATM at the Bank of Tennessee-Kingsport Branch in Kingsport, Tenn. From there, the Millers took a Grey Line bus to Texas and then entered Mexico, Luchterhand said. Police are working with the FBI and border officials to find their exact location, he said.

The elder Miller, wanted for felony bail jumping, faces a reckless homicide charge in connection with the Feb. 9 fentanyl-related death of Victor Gadzinski, 39, of Manitowoc.

OG, do you have any sense as to why this is getting absolutely no press at all?

Uhh, well, if I had to guess... because it's a parental abduction? Those do tend to get less attention, unless the circumstances make it seem like the child is in immediate danger. Like when the custodial parent is found murdered when the child is discovered to be missing. Usually, though, I think people tend to assume oh, he's with his dad, he's not in any real danger.

True, although usually the parent isn't wanted for homicide. IDK, it just seems odd to me.

The missing 14-year-old Manitowoc boy and his 57-year-old biological father were located late Thursday afternoon in Mexico just across the border from Laredo, Texas, said Capt. Scott Luchterhand on Friday.

The boy, Devin R. Miller, and Timothy L. Miller were found to be safe and in good health, he said.

The elder Miller fled in late June to avoid facing a reckless homicide charge, Luchterhand said.
