Paula Anne Worcester was last seen on June 18. Her husband, Joseph Poe III, was arrested Tuesday night after leading lawmen from four agencies on a chase through two counties in an unrelated case.

Worcester's sister on July 4 went to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office about 7 p.m. to report Worcester missing, said sheriff's Sgt. Jack Self. She told authorities her sister was last seen at her step daughter's home in the 2500 block of Rose Drive in Morris. They told deputies that the last person to see her was her husband...

Self said Poe was questioned about his missing wife. He told detectives that he had last seen her when he dropped her off at her sister's house in Hueytown on June 18. Detectives have no evidence linking him to her disappearance, Self said.

Paula is described as a white female, 5'5" tall and 190 pounds, with blonde hair and hazel eyes.

The family also claimed Worcester’s husband, Joseph Poe III, was the last person to see her.

The husband was arrested Tuesday, July 8 in a separate case. Authorities say Poe led deputies on a chase through Blount and Jefferson Counties. According to investigators, the 41-year-old was driving a stolen vehicle with stolen tags.

The husband was taken into custody after authorities in Blount County used spikes to end the chase.

Friends and family of Paula Worcester have not stopped searching for her since she went missing late June.

Wednesday morning, they found what they think are Worcester’s personal items. Lexie Coste participated in the search. “We’ve been hearing some rumors about her being thrown off a guard rail,” Lexie Coste said. “We ended up finding some paperwork with her name on it, social security number and prescription papers.”

Jefferson County deputies were called out to the location on Newcastle road to assist in the search. According to Sgt. Jack Self, deputies did not find any further evidence.

Murder without a body: the case of Paula Worcester

Detectives in Jefferson County have worked tirelessly for months to solve a murder case, but they already have their suspect.

The problem is, investigators can’t find a body.

Paula Worcester, 41, was last seen in person, by her family, on June 18, 2014. While detectives would typically treat this case as a missing person investigation, they are treating this one as a murder.

Poe is now serving a two-year prison sentence, after pleading guilty to charges connected to the chase. His release is scheduled for July 6, 2016.

Williams would like to charge Poe with capital murder by his release date.

I do not think I will ever be able to comprehend how so many people can go missing/presumed dead. How in the world can all of these bad guys successfully hide bodies? This kind of things has gone on for years if not centuries...:alien3:

I wonder if the guardrail she was allegedly thrown off of was above a river or what? You would think her body would have been spotted if it landed in water? I wonder where these rumors are coming from? Did someone actually see this happen? Did the person who supposedly threw her over, tell someone about it? Is it just what someone imagined happened and they are just gossiping? How horrible for this woman! If it is true, that is a terrible way to die. If her husband did it, they need to get some sort of witness or evidence before his sentence is up. If someone knows something or saw something, they need to do the right thing and go to the authorities.

Police: Man confesses to wife's 2014 disappearance, slaying

Authorities say a man who had been a longtime suspect in his wife's disappearance confessed to her slaying and led police to her remains.

AL.com (http://bit.ly/2a5FCfM ) reports 43-year-old Joseph Poe III was arrested Friday on unrelated charges. On Saturday, Chief Deputy Randy Christian says Poe told Tarrant police he needed to talk to a detective concerning Paula Anne Worcester's disappearance. Police say Poe admitted to fatally shooting Worcester, who was reported missing by her sister on July, 4 2014. Police say Poe told detectives he'd left her body in a wooded area in Trafford, about 35 miles north of Birmingham.

Police say skeletal remains were found where Poe said they'd be.

Charges are expected pending positive identification of the remains.

The remains of Paula Worcester were found on Monday after her husband led Jefferson County investigators to her body.

Worcester was reported missing by her sister on July 4, 2014. Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies went to question her husband, Joseph Poe III, on July 18, 2014, and he was arrested after leading them on a car chase in a stolen truck. That story can be found HERE. (http://wiat.com/2014/07/10/jefferson-co-sheriffs-asking-for-help-in-locating-missing-woman/)

After Poe was convicted after fleeing from detectives in the stolen vehicle, he was sentenced to 2 years in prison in 2014. CBS42’s Jamie Ostroff interviewed Poe while he was spending time behind bars. During the interview, Poe asserted his innocence and claimed that he had not seen her for almost a month when she went missing.

By February of 2015, authorities were considering Poe as a suspect in Worcester’s disappearance, and were giving up on finding her alive. The lack of a body began to complicate matters for the investigation. CBS42 ran a story on the case in which Detective Shane Williams with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office spoke on the case, as well as the victims family.

Poe is serving a two year sentence at the Easterling Correctional Facility, after fleeing from detectives in a stolen truck when they went to question him on his wife’s disappearance in July of 2014

Officials say skeletal remains believed to be of missing Morris woman Paula Worcester have been found in Trafford after her husband Joseph Poe III confessed to her murder.

Officials say Poe Saturday confessed to her murder and told investigators where he had left her body, in a wooded area in Trafford near Gurley Road.

Monday, investigators were in a wooded area near a creek bed, searching for remains. Skeletal remains were discovered in the area and are believed to be that of Worcester.

Poe was released from prison earlier this month after serving time on unrelated charges after fleeing from detectives in a stolen truck when detectives went to question him about Worcester’s disappearance. She was last seen in June of 2014. Her sister reported her missing on July 4 of that year. Poe was questioned about his wife’s disappearance, and told several different stories about her whereabouts, including that they had been in an arguement and he let her out at a gas station in Bessemer where she was going to get a 6-pack. Family members told us he was the last to see her alive, and had told them he had dropped Worcester off at her sister’s house. When her sister learned that he had told others she was at her house, she said she knew something was wrong and reported her missing.

Poe had been the primary suspect in her murder, detectives previously told CBS42. Investigators cited evidence as the reason they believed Poe to be the suspect in her murder, but didn’t have enough to charge him, and had hoped to charge him before he got out of jail on the unrelated charges. Poe’s two daughters told CBS42 in 2015 that he confessed to them that he murdered Worcester.
