Up to 12 wives in a half-dozen states.
Estranged for five years from family who were convinced her husband was a con man and bigamist, Joyce Reynolds yesterday began reassembling the tattered pieces of her life after learning her husband had up to 12 wives in a half-dozen states.
Stevens said Reynolds was "despondent" and an "emotional wreck" after learning her supposed husband was a serial bigamist and a suspected con man, and that their marriage of four years may not have been legal.
Reynolds' family became suspicious a few years ago when they couldn't confirm Barber's story that he was a pediatric cardiologist on leave — who just happened to take a job as a car salesman.
And some of Barber's partners in a fugitive-tracking business had become suspicious after he told them he'd been married to Reynolds for 39 years — even though she's only 49.
His bogus life story finally fell apart when he was arrested on a minor traffic charge last week, and cops began questioning him about a $50,000 child support claim an ex-wife had filed against him in Morris County.
Authorities say Barber has 24 known aliases, several different Social Security numbers, and has done jail or prison time in Kansas, California, Texas and Missouri.
Just when I think that I have seen the most depraved things a human can do to another human, somebody posts a new story...........
Why is it that when a custodial parent fails to provide for a child it is called neglect and is a criminal matter. But when a non custodial parent fails to provide it is called failure to support and is a civil matter?
