TN - Boy, 4, accidentally burned by soup. Parents wait 36hrs to seek care.

Tara Crockett and Shawn Feinstein both face charges of felony child abuse and neglect.

The couple lives without electricity and has extension cords running from a shed behind their home into their house.
Their four-year-old son tripped on one of the cords which pulled a boiling crock pot off a counter and onto the child.

The boy was scalded, receiving second degree burns on his legs.

OMG!!! This little boy had 2nd degree burns, but the uncle makes it sound like he wasn't in pain because he was autistic!!!!!
Are these people ignorant or stupid? What about the risk of infection and permanent scarring besides his pain? Hope he's taken out of their custody. Not having a phone is not a reason to not take him to a hospital. GRRRRR!!

I think the uncle may have meant to say 'it wasn't that he did not feel pain from the burns, but he is autistic and was perhaps not complaining verbally.' Many children with autism do have a very high tolerance for physical pain, and do not complain or cry on the level of a neurotypical kid.

It's hard to tell for sure. The triple negatives and such make it hard to decipher.

The boy shouldn't have had to complain. Seems obvious that burns from hot soup are going to be painful!
