' Friends and family are mourning the death of a hostage who was killed after a bank robbery, high-speed chase and police shootout (Wednesday) in Stockton.
She was a wife and a mother.'

Misty Holt-Singh, with her little girl, was a customer at the bank when armed robbers took her and two bank employees hostage. Two suspects also died, one during the car chase, one later in hospital. The pursuit of the suspects has rocked the community. The chase lasted 45 minutes, involved damage to 14 vehicles and resulted in houses and vehicles being sprayed with bullets. The suspects were armed with an AK-47 type rifle. Two other hostages managed to jump from the vehicle during the chase, slightly injured, but Misty was used as a human shield.

It's not clear who shot her.

'It was at the Bank of the West on Hammer Lane in Stockton that the daughter of Misty Holt-Singh waited to hear what happened to her mother. Misty was taken hostage by three men who had just robbed the bank.'

Misty's 12 yr old daughter was left at the bank, and texted her dad that mom had been taken hostage. For a long time the family just waited, hoping Misty would be rescued safe. :(

'Stockton police said a second suspect has died after a bank robbery and gunbattle that led to the death of a hostage.

The third hostage — the bank customer — was found dead inside of the SUV due to gunfire, Stockton police said. Stockton Police Chief Eric Jones said she was used as a human shield during the firefight, but it is unclear who shot her.'

Sounds like trigger happy LE! This is overkill by a non-skilled police dept. Hostages being used as human shields, houses and vehicles sprayed with flying bullets, and LE keeps returning fire.

Where were the expert shooters? Why didn't LE shoot the tire/s out? Where were armored vehicles to get close or intercept the robbers?

From the original post, the statement from the Stockton police "but it is unclear who shot her", oh really?!
A moving vehicle, lots of LE shooting many guns, what a stupid remark! Bet there will be lawsuits over this incident.

From the description of this shoot out, it is amazing more people were not injured.

My opinions only!

I watched the chase live online, as well as seeing the two suspects on the ground outside of their vehicle at the conclusion. I had heard there was a hostage but didn't see one. Now I know why. I'm so heartbroken to hear that she didn't survive. My prayers are with her family.

Jones said police are seeking to question Pablo Ruvalcaba, 21, who may have dropped the suspects off at the bank. He described Ruvalcaba as a person of interest, not a suspect.

In addition, officials with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said at Thursday's news conference that the agency was offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who supplied the robbers with an AK-47.

Investigators have been unable to trace the weapon, which does not have a serial number and appears to have been made by an unlicensed manufacturer.

An indictment unsealed Monday charged two men with murder, kidnapping and other crimes in a violent bank robbery and shootout with police that ended with the deaths of a woman taken hostage and two other suspects.

Jaime Ramos, 20, and Pablo Ruvalcaba, 21, were each charged with three counts of murder in addition to robbery, kidnapping, carjacking and gang counts. Authorities say Ruvalcaba drove Ramos and the two other suspects to the bank.

California law allows murder charges to be filed against anyone involved in a crime in which someone is killed. The indictment also contained 35 counts of attempted murder for each of the officers involved in the shootout.

I just want to make it clear that the tragic death of this innocent mother was the direct result of the actions of the ruthless robbers. This woman was not murdered by police or killed due to any negligence on the part of any law enforcement officer. These cowardly criminals made it necessary for law enforcement to pursue them aggressively. Clearly, they were hell bent on mayhem and murder. Cops did their best to stop these criminals before they took any more hostages or ambushed their pursuers. A heroic effort on the part of LE with tragic results due the the purely evil goals of these worthless criminals.

Cops criticized for 'excessive' 600-round volley of bullets that left hostage dead in bank robbery shootout

The 2014 shootout left hostage Misty Holt-Singh dead after she was struck by 10 officer bullets as she was used as a human shield by a suspect

The three suspects, armed with handguns and an AK-47, robbed a California and took three women hostage before fleeing in an SUV

They then led police on an hour-long pursuit and gun battle during which more than a dozen police vehicles were shot

A report found that, once they finally stopped, 'a lack of planning...created a level of chaos that was difficult to manage and overcome'

A pretrial court hearing held Tuesday primarily to discuss a defense motion seeking dismissal of charges in the Bank of the West robbery, pursuit and hostage siege resulted in setting three new hearing dates.

What hasn’t changed in the case against defendants Jaime Ramos, 20 — who faces the death penalty if convicted — and Pablo Ruvalcaba, 22 — who faces a life sentence without the possibility of parole — is the date previously set for the trial to begin...

The trial will begin with jury selection on Sept. 12, 2016, followed by opening arguments less than three weeks later, Garber said during a hearing in August at which he recognized the massive amount of material the attorneys must deal with.

Paul Singh knew this day was coming.

But Singh said Friday afternoon that knowing so made it no easier.

Singh spoke about three hours after Jaime Ramos and Pablo Ruvalcaba pleaded guilty to the murder of his wife, 41-year-old Misty Holt-Singh, during Stockton's Bank of the West robbery on July 16, 2014.

Ramos, 21, will spend the rest of his life in prison. Ruvalcaba, 23, received 25 years to life. A hearing to set a sentencing date is scheduled for Jan. 9. The actual sentencing may not take place until February.

"Obviously, today was emotional," Paul Singh, who was not in the courtroom Friday, said during a phone interview. "During my drive into work, the emotions came back up. I was reliving the day all over again. I'm obviously glad it is over. ...; For our family it will never be over."
