San Francisco prosecutors say the crime allegedly committed by 35 year-old Jeffrey Bugai began in November, 2008 at the El Trebor bar in the city's Mission District. Investigators said the San Francisco security guard allegedly kidnapped two Central American men while impersonating a police officer.He was arrested July 10th and now faces felony charges including kidnapping with the intent to commit sexual assaults and is being held in San Francisco County Jail #2 on a $2.1 million bond.<snip>
Court documents obtained by KTVU from two Michigan cities show Bugai was prosecuted in 1998 for misdemeanor criminal sexual conduct involving coercion and in 1999 for impersonating a health care professional. A 1997 post on Classmates.com by a Jeffrey Bugai says he worked for the San Francisco Housing Authority and the San Francisco Police Patrol Special. A San Francisco man who allegedly pretended to be a police officer and kidnapped other men for sex is facing new charges involving additional victims.

Jeffrey Bugai, 35, was originally charged in July with five counts involving two victims, including attempted sodomy by use of force and assault with intent to commit a felony. He now faces 39 counts involving seven victims...

In June, police searched Bugai's residence in the 1500 block of Kirkwood Avenue and found what resembled a police officer's clothing, a bullet proof vest, a Taser, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, two loaded firearms, and handcuffs, according to the affidavit, which says there were also pills including methadone and oxycodone, liquid morphine, and other drugs.

Jeffrey Bugai, 35, faces 39 counts including sodomy by anesthesia or a controlled substance, forcible oral copulation, and impersonating a public officer. Bugai has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Several men testified they had believed Bugai was a cop before he took them to an apartment and made them drink something they suspect was drugged.

Jeffrey Bugai, 36, was found guilty by a San Francisco Superior Court jury of 17 felony counts, including sexual assault, attempted sexual assault, sodomy, assault, sexual battery, forcible oral copulation, false imprisonment and extortion.

He faces life in prison when he is sentenced March 6.
