PHILADELPHIA, Mississippi (CNN) -- Forty-one years to the day three civil rights workers were ambushed and killed by a Ku Klux Klan mob, a jury found former Klansman Edgar Ray Killen guilty of all three counts of manslaughter Tuesday.

The "Freedom Summer" killings of James Chaney, 21, Andrew Goodman, 20, and Michael Schwerner, 24, galvanized the civil rights movement.

Hi Jeana: I've been somewhat following this trial on CTV. I felt so sorry for both mothers who testified and could feel their pain. It took 41 yrs. for them to get any kind of justice. At age 80, I wonder what his sentence will be?
 
I can imagine how happy they must be to finally have this in a court! I think he should be more worried about what his "next" sentence will be.

Justice is sweet. I hope as he was sitting there hearing that his life was essentially over he felt the same fear and helplessness (sp?) that his victims did.
 
A judge sent Edgar Ray Killen, the former Klansman convicted of the 1964 killing of three civil rights workers in Mississippi, back to prison yesterday, saying Mr. Killen had deceived the court about his health when he asked to be released on bond.

The hearing was called after Mr. Killen, who was granted bail after testifying that he was confined to a wheelchair, was seen up and walking by sheriff's deputies.

That's incredible to me," the judge, Marcus Gordon, said. "I feel fraud has been committed on this court."

"Without the testimony of the defendant's poor physical condition," Judge Marcus's written order said, "the court finds that the defendant has failed to show by clear and convincing evidence that he is not a danger to the community"

If they prove this, he will almost have to be dying to get out again.
 
A judge sent Edgar Ray Killen back to prison Friday after finding that the former Ku Klux Klan leader, convicted for the 1964 slayings of three civil rights workers, was in better health than the court had been told.

Four law enforcement officers and a convenience store owner testified they had seen Killen driving during the past two weeks. But at an August court hearing, the 80-year-old sawmill owner and preacher had testified he was in constant pain and confined to a wheelchair.

Circuit Judge Marcus Gordon decided to revoke the $600,000 bond that had allowed Killen to remain free while appealing his manslaughter convictions. He spent 53 days in prison, in between his June conviction and being released on bond Aug. 12.
