David Beatty, 28, of Aliquippa, is charged in the deaths of 2-year-old Brooklyn and 3-year-old Ryeley. Brooklyn died shortly after the dresser fell on her July 4, and Ryeley died two days later in a Pittsburgh hospital

he didn't check on them for 10 to 15 minutes after hearing the crash. The dresser weighed 124 pounds; the girls weighed about 30 pounds each. Autopsies determined that the weight of the dresser prevented the girls from breathing.

Look at these sweet girls :(

It gets worse. The dad KNEW they were playing in the BOTTOM drawer of the dresser.

"He left the room and the girls were in the bottom drawer of this cabinet. Ten minutes later he heard the crash, but he didn't respond to that for another 20 or so minutes,” Berosh said. “Those kids shouldn’t have been in the drawers in the first place"

They died from suffocation, not from any injuries from the dresser falling on them :tantrum:

The coroner told Marcinkiewicz the toddlers suffocated and ruled the incident an accident

Wow, this is horrible. I remember hearing about this and feeling sorry for the parents. Did he not know the dangers of dressers and small children? There's a blog that has gone around Facebook from a mom who lost her daughter this way and it is heartbreaking. But this dad knew what was going on and could have stopped this! RIP little ones.

He never checked them for 20 minutes after no doubt hearing a crash and then silence? Twenty minutes?!
The guy had to be insane, or completely smoked.

Article says ten minutes. Even so ... that's a very long time.

From above link:
"Twenty-eight-year-old David Beatty Jr. and his wife, Jennifer, must still stand trial on child endangerment charges." bbm

Not getting completely away with it yet.

They will probably get probation and time served, IMO.

warning: do not read unless sitting down with cup of coffee or tea before reading this

parents are suing manufacturer because there was no tether strap provided with the dresser
actually it says '''attorney suing on behalf of the children''''

"An attorney is suing a Babies "R'' Us store and the New Jersey company that built a dresser which toppled onto two toddlers, killing them in their western Pennsylvania home last year."

So help me God, if these parents or parent financially benefits from leaving his kids under there long enough to die, I might try to get a law passed about crummy parents not being allowed to benefit from any children that die on their watch. But I guess it is no different than having more kids than you can take care of and getting a check for them every month whether you use it on them or not.
