Eloy police concerned missing woman may have been murdered

ELOY, Ariz. –
Eloy police are seeking information about a missing 21-year-old woman. Police said Susan Danielle Ronquillo, who is homeless, was last seen in Eloy on July 11. Friends reported her missing on July 19. Since that time, information has been received that Ronquillo may have been murdered, according to police. Investigators have been following up on leads, including information that has been circulating on social media.

What a pretty girl. Looks younger her age. According to the comments from the first article posted she obviously partied a lot. No mention of drugs or something like that though.

During the investigation, detectives located human remains in a remote desert area. Due to decomposition, the remains have not been positively identified but at this point are believed to be those of Ronquillo. An autopsy is scheduled to positively identify the remains.

James "Jimmy" Robles, 33, of the Eloy/Casa Grande area, has been arrested and charged in connection with Ronquillo's disappearance.

Detectives are following up on additional leads and expect to make more arrests in connection with this case.

She was lovely. The very top of Facebook page asks who has the blunts.. Lots of cleavage shots. Why is she homeless and wth where r her parents?!?!

Man, after a horde of teens all looking half a dozen to a dozen or so years older than they are, now we've got a legal adult looking scarcely the age of a tween in a bunch of her pictures!

Some of those had me thinking she was 12 not 21 (and that in the older looking ones it was the same thing we'd been seeing with all the others!)

The guy arrested looks like a nutcase. Poor girl. RIP Susan. WOW she looks like she was only 14 or 15.

Why did the creep kill her?

I was thinking about this. I am from Az, I think this might be gang related. Since they did say this may be the first of many arrests. Things that come to mind are- she was pregnant and they didn't want the baby (very similar to the Amber Hess case), a jump in for an initiation for someone else, or a sexual assault gone bad.

Just thoughts.

This is a real mystery. Why on earth would these guys want to kill her? can't fathom it. JMO

When 21-year-old Susan Ronquillo’s body was found in the desert in July 2014, she had already been dead for 19 days. But nearly two years later, many questions remain about how and why she was killed...

Robles was charged with second degree murder and is awaiting trial while being held at the Pinal County Jail in Florence. His trial is scheduled to begin Oct. 10.

Tyree and Martinez believe Luis Hernandez, 34, and Estevan Angulo, 37, were also involved in Ronquillo’s murder, but neither man was charged...

Ronquillo’s family was also upset that a plea deal was struck with Javier Martinez, who was charged with hindering prosecution and abandonment or concealment of a dead body... He was sentenced to 6.5 years in prison.

Defense raises conflict concerns in Eloy murder case

A hearing expected to reset the second-degree murder trial of James Robles yielded less than satisfactory results for the victim’s family.

Robles was set to face a jury for the murder of Susan Ronquillo of Eloy beginning Oct. 11 before Pinal County Superior Court Judge Joseph Georgini. But expectations were not met, and that trial date was vacated. On Monday, Robles appeared before Georgini in hopes of hearing a new date.

But once again, expectations could not quite be met.

Because of concerns of a possible conflict in the case raised by defense attorney Bret Huggins, Robles will not return to court until Jan. 17 for a status conference.

New trial date set in Eloy murder case

http://www.pinalcentral.com/eloy_enterprise/news/new-trial-date-set-in-eloy-murder-case/article_24137aee-c972-556f-b6af-d154e71bd8da.html

A new trial date has been set for the second-degree murder charge against James Robles, but some members of the family of his alleged victim, Susan Ronquillo, don’t believe it will stand.

Robles was set to face a jury for Ronquillo’s murder beginning Oct. 11 before Pinal County Superior Court Judge Joseph Georgini, but that date was vacated when defense attorney Bret Huggins raised concerns of a conflict of interest as recently elected Pinal County Attorney Kent Volkmer was set to take office. On Tuesday, Georgini scheduled an evidentiary hearing for March 24 and reset Robles’ trial for April 25. It is expected to last three weeks.

But after facing repeated disappointment along the road to this point, Frankie Tyree and Starla Martinez were divided on whether to put their confidence into the system yet again.

Tyree, Ronquillo’s aunt, said the Oct. 11 trial was nothing but “smoke and mirrors” to begin with, and she has no confidence in the new date either. Though she said Georgini is the only person in the Pinal County system she trusts, Tyree does not believe justice will ever truly be served in this case.
