Police are appealing for public assistance, as part of Missing Persons Week, to find a woman missing from the Tweed Shire since 2011.
About 1pm on Friday 11 November 2011, then 70-year-old Carole Anderson left her cabin at the caravan park on Dry Dock Road, Tweed Heads. About an hour later, she was seen walking along Fraser Drive, Tweed Heads.
Mrs Anderson had left home while her husband was sleeping and did not take any possessions with her.
There are serious concerns for her welfare as she suffers from dementia and it is possible she may have become confused or disoriented during her walk and wandered into nearby bushland.
She is described as being of Caucasian appearance, 160cm tall, of a thin build, with grey hair and brown eyes. She would now be aged 73.
She was last seen wearing a long white dress with shoe string straps.
At the time of her disappearance, investigators from Tweed/Byron Local Area Command conducted extensive land and water searches with the assistance of PolAir, Police Divers, Rescue and Bomb Disposal Unit, and State Emergency Service but were unable to locate her.
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Carole Anderson is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://www1.police.nsw.gov.au/.
