Saturday, Aug 9, 2014 • Updated at 6:46 PM EDT
Police are searching for two suspects who shot and killed an Orthodox Jewish rabbi while he was walking to his temple in North Miami Beach on Saturday morning.

Miami-Dade Police said 60-year-old Joseph Raksin was walking on the 800 block of NE 175th Street around 9 a.m. when two young males approached him. Raksin was shot during the altercation.

A source close to the investigation told CBS4 there was a break in the case in the form of surveillance video.

The video reportedly shows a man matching the description of one of the rabbi’s attackers. He is seen jogging away from the area just minutes after the murder.

A silver or light-colored Toyota Tundra with an extended cab was also caught on camera. Police said the driver of the truck is not a suspect, but may have seen something significant.

A community stood united Monday night as members continue to look for answers in the death of a rabbi murdered while walking to synagogue to pray...

Investigators said Rabbi Joseph Raksin was shot to death by two young men in early August in northeast Miami-Dade in what was likely a botched robbery...

Detectives announced to about 100 community members who attended the meeting that they have made significant progress, but can’t prematurely release details on the investigation.

An Orthodox Jew would not have any cash on him on a Saturday. This is just awful.

A new trust has been formed to benefit the children of Rabbi Joseph Raksin, who was murdered this summer in a Northeast Miami-Dade County neighborhood while walking to synagogue during the Sabbath. Raksin is a father of six from Brooklyn, NY who was visiting family in Miami when he was gunned down...

Despite the efforts of the community, police and the Anti-Defamation League, a suspect has not been identified at press time.

Yona Lunger, the head of a neighborhood watch, Shmira Patrol, and of Chesad, a food bank and crisis intervention organization, told journalists that “there is one witness who wants to stay anonymous, and he watched two guys go up with a gun, kill the guy, and walk away smiling.”

This is the same individual, Lunger told me, who was mentioned in one CBS report as watching the killer and his companion walk off nonchalantly. The witness is very concerned for his safety, and would not speak with me.

A second man, Jean Louis Denes, also heard the shot, told his son to call 911, and rushed up to the rabbi. “He was coming in and out of consciousness,” Denes told a CBS reporter, “and I talked a little bit to him. He gave me his name, that he was from New York, and he told me two males were the people that did this. I told him my name, I told him to stay quiet and that everything was going to be fine, and unfortunately it was different.”

A DNA match and eyewitness testimony helped identify a 14-year-old Norland High student, now 15, as the killer who gunned down Rabbi Joseph Raksin...

Miami-Dade police arrested Deandre Edwin Charles at dawn Wednesday after a grand jury indicted him on first-degree murder and attempted armed robbery...

“We believe this was a robbery,” Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle said during a news conference on Wednesday attended by police brass, religious leaders and the county’s mayor. “It was a crime of opportunity.”

If Deandre Edwin Charles was arrested, what happened to his accomplice? Are they still looking for him?

Now CBS4 is getting a look at some of the evidence prosecutors plan to use in the case.

Most of the more than 600 pages of discovery focused on physical evidence – including the autopsy, DNA tests and fingerprints. Most of the testing cleared many friends of 15-year-old murder suspect Deandre Charles...

Police are still looking to make two more arrests in this case. Charles’ next court date is January 15th.

Police and prosecutors say Deandre Charles is a cold-blooded killer who shot Rabbi Joseph Raksin after trying to rob him and getting away with nothing.

But during two interrogations with police that were released through court discovery, Charles is heard maintaining his innocence in multiple interviews with detectives...

Prosecutors have dropped all charges against 17-year-old Deandre Charles of South Florida, the suspect originally accused of killing Rabbi Joseph Raksin in 2014...

Now — in a memo released on Tuesday — prosecutors explain how the case collapsed, saying a “change in lab protocol” puts the DNA evidence in question. Additionally, a reevaluation of the cell phone records can’t place the defendant at the scene.
