Kyle Siler was charged Saturday with aggravated assault in the beating of Dean Neiderklopfer in the early Friday morning hours in the oil boomtown of Williston, according to court documents. Police said Neiderklopfer is at Minots Trinity Hospital and was expected to be declared brain-dead.
Jessica Gibson, who traveled with Siler and was believed to be his girlfriend, was charged with hindering law enforcement, according to court documents.
A police affidavit said witnesses told officers that they saw Siler striking Neiderklopfer with a closed fist. Video footage seen by authorities showed Siler preparing to strike Neiderklopfer and returning to the video rubbing his hand. Witnesses told police Siler was strutting and smirking after the incident.
The video seen by police also showed Gibson recording the incident on her
cellphone, according to the affidavit.
