Two men have been charged with the murder of 72 year old Falmouth man David Alderson, whose body was found in a disused copper mine in January, and who police initially thought had died in a cycling accident (?). He'd left home in his vehicle.

Trewen Kevern, 21, from Ashfield Road, Falmouth will appear in court today. He's jointly charged with murder alongside Kevin Cooper, 33 from Redruth, who has already pleaded not guilty.

A trial date of November 11th has been set.

Article from when David's body was found Jan 18th:

'Police believe he had an accident at Wheal Maid mine works near Carharrack and died at the scene....dressed in....cycling shoes.'

Another earlier article about the investigation:

'A 72-year-old cyclist whose body was found in a disused Cornish copper mine was murdered, police believe.....Devon and Cornwall Police initially thought the Falmouth man had fallen accidentally...'

'They have now begun a murder inquiry and say they are looking for 33-year-old Kevin Cooper from Redruth.'

'...although Mr Alderson was wearing cycling gear, police were unable to find his bike.'

This is the mine David was found in. The article at the link also reveals (in my opinion) that police thought someone had pinched David's bike, though they worded it subtly.

Mine death trial: The two men accused of killing David Alderson blame each other
May 07, 2015

Kevin Cooper and Trewen Kevern are on trial at Truro Crown Court accused of murdering 72-year-old David Alderson, of Falmouth, whose body was found at the disused mining site Wheal Maid, near Carharrack, on January 18, 2014.

Both men deny killing Mr Alderson and claim that their co-defendant was responsible.

The prosecution allege that Cooper, 34, of Poldory View, Carharrack, and Kevern 21, of Godolphin Road, Falmouth, acted jointly and killed Mr Alderson so that they could steal up to £40,000 in cash that he kept in his flat on Old Hill.

After a five-week retrial, Cooper and Kevern were convicted by a jury of murdering 72-year-old Mr Alderson in January 2014.

Kevin Cooper, 35, of Carharrack, and Trewen Kevern, 23, of Falmouth, have been jailed for life after they were both found guilty of his murder at Truro Crown Court.

Cooper was then ordered to serve a minimum of 28 years and Kevern at least 20 years.
