Three people were brought into U.S. District Court yesterday on charges that they kidnapped a girl from a Des Moines convenience store and took her out of state with plans to force her into prostitution.

Ronald Rowe Jr., Marquis Lamont Smith and Jassica Pitts were arrested May 23 in Florida. U.S. Magistrate Monica Benton ordered them to remain behind bars yesterday in Seattle.

Authorities say the three offered a ride on May 1 to the 17-year-old girl, who had met Pitts earlier on a bus, but they refused to take her home.
