The fatal shooting of an unarmed black teenager Saturday by a police officer in a St. Louis suburb came after a struggle for the officer’s gun, police officials said Sunday, in an explanation that met with outrage and skepticism in the largely African-American community.The killing of the youth, Michael Brown, 18, ignited protests on Saturday and Sunday in Ferguson, Mo., a working-class suburb of about 20,000 residents. Hundreds of people gathered at the scene of the shooting to question the police and to light candles for Mr. Brown, who was planning to begin college classes on Monday.
Mr. Brown’s stepfather, Louis Head, held a cardboard sign that said, “Ferguson police just executed my unarmed son.”

Police bowed to public pressure Friday and named Darren Wilson as the officer who shot to death unarmed teenager Michael Brown, and they released a report that said Brown was being sought in connection with a robbery minutes before the fatal encounter.

At a brief appearance, during which he took no questions from reporters, Ferguson Police Chief Thomas Jackson described Wilson as a six-year veteran of the Police Department with no prior disciplinary problems.

At least two autopsies have been performed on Brown — one by government authorities and second arranged by attorneys for his family, according to attorneys for Brown’s parents.

The family is represented by Benjamin Crump and Darryl Parks — the Florida lawyers who represented the family of Trayvon Martin, the unarmed teenager whose death at the hands of a neighborhood watch volunteer sparked national outrage in 2012.

Parks declined to discuss the autopsy results.

One critically wounded. Police had to use tear gas to get to victim in crowd. A police car was allegedly shot at. Link above in my last post.
 
The shooting death of someone breaking the law results in another night of hundreds breaking the law.............makes sense>>>>>>> not!

Wow! Bigger than I thought from CNN article. Police had to use tear gas to get to victim and life flight out. I have mixed feelings. My family and I debated all day about how things should be handled. And I, of course, was odd man out when I believed that LE should stay out of things until Ferguson gets tired of lawlessness and begs for help. Family felt that since business owners pay taxes, that is contract for help from LE when they call for it. And family feared for business owners' lives when they have to arm themselves against huge crowds of looters. I also feel that JJ and AS should call for peaceful daytime protesting and try to take some control. But these are only my opinions... sigh.

That makes no sense at all. So the cop is behind the wheel of his cruiser, and he reaches out through the window, and 'grabs' the throat of a 6 ft 4 inch, 300 lb muscular 18 yr old? Seriously? How is that even possible? I saw the picture of the officer in the Daily Mail article. It doesn't look like he could grab Big Mike around the throat from the vantage of a car window. I would like to see that acted out.

But hey, let's say he did SOMEHOW grab Mike's throat through the car window...how did he then grab a gun? He'd have to let go to get his gun. No way he is holding that big strong kid with one hand through the car window. Imo, Mike would have been long gone before a gun came up and out the window.

But that doesn't make any sense anyway. Why does a cop, sitting in his car, reach through the window, grab a teen by the neck and then just shoot him? Nah, there is something missing from this version of the story. Like how the officer got the injuries to his face.

IMO, sitting in a car is a vulnerable position to be in. I can't fathom anyone grabbing at a larger person who may be in a defensive or offensive position. It doesn't make sense to me at all either.

It's sad to see the country my ancestors fought to bring forth in the American Revolution, and fought to maintain in the Civil War being reduced to a third world hell.

It would make sense if MB was leaning into the car through the open window, possibly attacking the officer at that point who grabbed his throat while simultaneously reaching for his gun. jmo

Ferguson police wanted to release the video Thursday, but the Department of Justice convinced them to withhold the footage over fears it would spark further unrest.

Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson released the video Friday, telling reporters that he had no choice because the media requested the release under the Freedom of Information Act. The Department of Justice, which is conducting its own investigation into Brown’s Aug. 9 death, has had a copy of the footage all along and never considered releasing it to the public, the source said.

Neighbors told USA Today that he (Darren Wilson) was 'tall and slim' and was often seen walking his dog.

Another neighbor, Ron Gorski, told USA Today: 'He's a young guy. Things happen and it's a complicated situation. I feel for the family and the entire country.'

Ferguson police chief Thomas Jackson said the shooting had been 'devastating, absolutely devastating' to Officer Wilson, adding: 'We had no complaints about the officer. He was a gentleman. A quiet officer. He has been an effective officer.'

That shows just how utterly insane and ridiculous the whole situation is. The authorities don't want to reveal the "truth" because it will just hurt the feelings of the criminals that are rioting and looting?

Wow. Utterly pathetic.
 
Remove the police, put a barbed wire fence around Ferguson and let them figure it out themselves.
