CA - Steven Bland, 63, found dismembered, son charged, Redding, 3 April 2014

As detectives looked into James they found he had been using Steven's bank card and withdrew several thousand dollars from his account. On July 14, they arrested James during a traffic stop. He was arrested for grand theft and unauthorized use of Steven's bank card.
With James in jail the next day detectives served a search warrant at the home on Penrod Way. Sergeant Kropholler said two grave sites were located and excavated.

Very gruesome indeed.The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end .... there it is.

From October 2015:
James Jonathan Bland, 21, was sentenced to 25 years to life in Shasta County Superior Court on Tuesday on a charge of second-degree murder, said Kelly Kafel, senior deputy district attorney.
Bland, who had faced a first-degree murder charge, saw it reduced to second-degree murder after he led authorities to the remains of his father, Steven Alfred Bland, 63.
James Bland killed his father to get his money, according to prosecutors.
