Australia - Michael Burn, 50, Warrnambool, Vic, 17 Aug 2014

Police search for missing Warrnambool man

    19 August 2014

Police are seeking public assistance to help locate missing 50-year-old Michael Burn.

Michael was last seen leaving a relatives property in Hamilton in a silver 2007 Holden Rodeo Ute, headed toward Warrnambool just before 7pm on Sunday.

Police and family have concerns for Michaelís welfare because this is very out of character.

Michael is described as 180cm tall, thin build with short brown hair, he is also deaf.

He was last seen wearing a hi-vis jacket, blue work pants and work boots.

The registration of the vehicle Michael is driving is WLV 615.

Police have released an image of Michael in the hope that someone may have seen him.

Anyone who sees him is urged to call Triple Zero (000) immediately.

THE family of a Victorian father-of-two who has mysteriously disappeared without a trace hold grave fears he has met with foul play.

Michael Burn, 50, last phoned his wife, Anabel, on Sunday morning, telling her he was looking forward to seeing her and their children when he returned to their Warrnambool home that night.

He never made it home and has not been seen since.

Police have also found no trace of his silver 2007 Holden Rodeo ute, with registration WLV 615.

Mrs Burn last night told the Herald Sun she was trying to stay strong and positive for their children, Owen, 7, and Christine, 4, as she waits for any news.

“This is not like him at all,” she said.

“The kids keep asking ‘when is daddy going to be home?’.

Update on search for Warrnambool man

    21 August 2014

Police continue to investigate and search for missing 50-year-old Warrnambool man Michael Burn.

Michael left a relatives property in Hamilton in a silver 2007 Holden Rodeo Ute, headed toward Warrnambool on Sunday and has not been seen since.

The Air-wing and local police have conducted an extensive search of the area between Hamilton to Warrnambool but there have been no sightings of Michael or his vehicle.

Michael’s disappearance is completely out of character; he has made no contact with friends or family and his bank account has not been touched.

Michael is described as 180cm tall, thin build with short brown hair, he is also deaf.

Investigators have viewed CCTV at the local service station and believe Michael was last seen wearing a grey unzipped top with black sleeves, a grey and white stripped shirt, black pants and black shoes.

The registration of the vehicle Michael is driving is WLV 615.

Police would like farmers or transport drivers to check their local areas as they believe Mr Burn may be driving along back roads from Hamilton to Warrnambool.

Police have released an image of Michael in the hope that someone may have seen him.

Anyone who sees him is urged to call Triple Zero (000) immediately

    Thanks Marly.
I heard Mrs Burn on the radio today - it was very hard to listen to, she was so upset and concerned.
I hope they find Michael very soon, and that all is OK.

I wonder what the time and date was that Michael was seen at the Service Station?
Was this after he left the relatives property?
    The first article says:
He was last seen wearing a hi-vis jacket, blue work pants and work boots.

I wondered if between the time of leaving the relatives property and when he was last seen that he must have changed clothing.
Investigators have viewed CCTV at the local service station and believe Michael was last seen wearing a grey unzipped top with black sleeves, a grey and white stripped shirt, black pants and black shoes.

I thought it would have taken longer to get from Hamilton to Warrnambool. There are a lot of missing people in Victoria and it's not often that they get publicity, hopefully this one will turn out well.

Has it been mentioned why he was at the relatives? The outfit he apparently changed into seems it would be more appropriate for a visit to relatives than work clothes.

Michael Burn - Missing - change of clothing...

    http://www.standard.net.au/story/250...video/?cs=4162

Acting Sergeant Rod Charman, of Hamilton Police, said the CCTV footage showed Mr Burn's clothing had changed between leaving his brother's home, where he had spent the weekend, and his arrival at the service station on Cox Road.

"When he left his brother's, he was wearing a hi-vis jacket, blue work pants and boots," Acting Sergeant Charman said.

"In the CCTV footage he was wearing a grey unzipped top with black sleeves, a grey and white stripped shirt, black pants and black shoes.

"When he left the service station he appeared to head in the general direction of Warrnambool, but there are a few turn-offs he may have taken."

Police believe he drove to his mother's vacant property in Hamilton, had a shower and got changed before driving to the United service station.

Missing Warrnambool father Michael Burn seen on CCTV refuelling his car in Hamilton

Investigators trying to piece together his movements now believe he went from his brother’s house in Tarrington to his mother’s vacant property in Shanahan Crt, Hamilton — a move he told his brother he was going to do — had a shower and got changed before driving to the fuel station.

The handyman had spent the weekend at his brother’s home, helping with renovations, and left about 6.45pm — after having dinner with Russell and his wife — in “good spirits” and excited to see his wife, Anabel, and their children, Owen, 7, and Christine, 4.

Mr Burn is hearing-impaired and does not have a mobile phone.

Is it just me or do his mannerisms appear unusual, is there something in the back of that ute........?

It does seem a bit odd @44 when he reaches over and appears to hit the tarp.

Yes and when he gets out of the car and as he walks around he appears to glance down at the tarp a few times.

Michael is a handyman and he had been doing renovations at his brothers house - possibly there were tools or machinery in the back of the ute that needed to stay upright in transit? It looks to me like he was checking something was still under the tarp in the place and position where he left it, but couldn't tell as it was not touching the tarp?

If Michael was carrying equipment in the ute tray, I hope there is some memory of what it was. Maybe his brother, who's house he was renovating, would know. It would be good for people to know what to look out for if things were discarded, or worse, if things were stolen from the ute.

I hope Police get some news soon on this case.
