TX - Autumn Armstrong, 40, fatally shot in her Navasota home, 18 Aug 2014
McLain said in a release Tuesday, more than 36 hours after Autumn was found dead in her home, that her husband Kelly Armstrong is being charged with First Degree Murder...
Police found Autumn dead on her bed, with a gun nearby. Officials say she bled to death after being shot once in the upper thigh. The Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office ruled Autumn's death a homicide...
"Between inconsistencies in what he said and the crime scene, I believe that it indicates that the shooting of the gun was intentional," said McLain. "He's charged with intentionally causing serious bodily injury and shooting a firearm and as a result causing someone's death, which is first degree murder."

A probable cause statement discloses that a male acquaintance said the victim told him the defendant held a small handgun to her chest and threatened to shoot her, after a verbal argument three weeks prior to her death. The unnamed associate also claimed that Mrs. Armstrong told him her husband attempted to strangle her with his cane, during a physical altercation six months ago. Neither event was reported to law enforcement previously.
According to investigators, the couple had filed for divorce on July 2, and was scheduled to finalize the details on the day she was found shot dead at the couple’s 315 North Judson St. residence.
One night prior to the shooting, investigators said the victim was at another male friend’s residence when her husband repeatedly called the victim, who ignored the defendant’s phone calls until he called her from their teenage son’s phone. After the defendant was “audibly agitated and wanted to know why the victim was not answering his calls,” Mrs. Armstrong returned to their residence.
Kelly Armstrong called authorities at about 3:15 a.m. on Monday reporting that he had shot his wife while he was asleep, investigators said in the affidavit.
The document states that, during the call, Kelly Armstrong's voice was "flat and unemotional," and he went to the bathroom to urinate while talking with the 911 operator...
While Kelly Armstrong said he had gone to sleep at 11:45 p.m., investigators said he had texted people until after 1 a.m. and told at least two people not to come to the house in the morning.
