Meanwhile, the woman's husband Kevin Montone, 33, of 100 block of Sycamore Road, appeared in Central Judicial Processing court today in Jersey City on the charges of possession of heroin with intent to distribute and possession of heroin with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of school property... A neighbor told The Jersey Journal that when Montone was placed in the police car yesterday he was not handcuffed but was laughing uncontrollably.

A small child was taken from the residence in an ambulance.

According to del Rosario Casten, her goddaughter was the victim of a "crime of passion." She said the family is still awaiting autopsy results.

"In the end, I believe that Monica's downfall was her intense need to keep her young family intact," she said.

Kevin Montone, 34, a former civilian Jersey City police dispatcher, was arrested without incident at his home at 4:30 p.m. and he was charged with murdering Monica Montone, 34, on Aug. 18, Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor Gene Rubino said.

The charge comes after yesterday’s conclusion of the investigation by the Medical Examiner’s Office Newark, which determined Monica Montone’s “cause of death was asphyxia due to neck compressions,” and the manner of her death was ruled a homicide, Rubino said.

The son of a former Jersey City police sergeant pleaded not guilty to charges that he strangled his wife to death four months ago...

Montone appeared in Central Judicial Processing court in Jersey City this afternoon via video link from Hudson County jail in Kearny. No family or friends attended.

In court, Russo said there was a family court proceeding regarding the couple’s 2-year-old son, and as part of that case, his patient has undergone a 21-day inpatient drug program and is now in an intensive outpatient program.
 
Just as a side note: this is a nice neighborhood in JC, NJ built in the 1960's.

Following his recent arrest on a robbery charge, bail was increased by $100,000 today for a Jersey City man charged with murdering his wife.

Kevin Montone... was out on a $250,000 bail bond when he was detained by four men at Sullivan Drive and Bartholdi Avenue around 2 p.m. on Tuesday and later charged with robbery, officials said.

At today's bail hearing, Martin Melendez of Big Lou's Bail Bonds in Jersey City informed Hudson County Superior Court Judge Joseph Isabella that the family member who had secured Montone's $250,000 bail bond when he was first charged with murder had withdrawn his help completely.

A 35-year-old Jersey City man charged with strangling his wife in 2014 will face up to life in prison plus 15 years if convicted at trial after turning down the prosecution's final plea offer yesterday.

The state made its final offer to Kevin Montone -- who has been in Hudson County jail since September 2015 -- a 30-year prison sentence in exchange for a guilty plea to a murder charge at a hearing in Hudson County Superior Court. Judge Patrick Arre set Feb. 26 as Montone's trial date.
