Nail Polish Developed at N.C. State Alerts The Wearer Of Date Rape Drugs

Undercover Colors - Nail polish developed by undergrads - The person wearing the nail polish can swirl their finger in a drink & if it contains a date rape drug, the polish will change colors.

Financial backing is falling into place, so it seems this will be coming on the market.

I'm buying some as soon as it hits the market and passing it out to all the young women I know.

"... nail polish that, when exposed to date rape drugs, changes color...."

    Looks good on paper.

Specifically what drugs does product detect?
Roofies, IIUC, basically render a person unconscious.
What about other types of drugs w similar effects, i.e., causing sleepiness, esp in combo w alcohol?
    Does product detect those drugs?

What about other 'recreational' drugs, that might be slipped into a drink for nefarious purposes?
    Or plain 'pranks.'

Does product measure the wearer's blood alcohol level too?
Could some attacks/rapes be precipitated by a dozen mojitos, for ex?

Will be good, even if all it can do is detect roofies.

And congrats to the folks developing the product and their sense of entrepreneurship.

Surely it can only get better as time goes by - like DNA technology.

Another product to do the same thing, only differently - with drink coasters not nail polish.

"Drinking has always been a risky activity, but the threat of date rape drugs makes it a whole lot worse. A North Texan company has developed coasters that can test your drink for drugs that may have been slipped in when you weren't keeping a watchful eye...."

Has more info about the product. http://lifehacker.com/drinksafe-coas...ugs-1626468362
    Some interesting comments too.
