MO - Grief & protests follow shooting of teen Michael Brown #11

The fatal shooting of an unarmed black teenager Saturday by a police officer in a St. Louis suburb came after a struggle for the officer’s gun, police officials said Sunday, in an explanation that met with outrage and skepticism in the largely African-American community. The killing of the youth, Michael Brown, 18, ignited protests on Saturday and Sunday in Ferguson, Mo., a working-class suburb of about 20,000 residents. Hundreds of people gathered at the scene of the shooting to question the police and to light candles for Mr. Brown, who was planning to begin college classes on Monday.
Mr. Brown’s stepfather, Louis Head, held a cardboard sign that said, “Ferguson police just executed my unarmed son.”

    A couple of things:

    1) We are not going to allow links to blogs in this case without prior approval. And approvals will be tough to get.

    2) Posts directed at other posters rather than the case will earn a TO without explanation. If you have a problem with another member, use the alert feature and scroll on by OR use the ignore feature and keep it to yourself

What's fueling much of the anger. I believe it is the 'misinformation' that is being put out on various social media. I clicked on the link to a pic of his body: http://theobamacrat.com/2014/08/09/f...dy/mike-brown/

and this is what they said about the shooting:

Ferguson police gunned down 17 year old Michael Brown as he and a friend walked down the street. A witness stated police pulled up to the two boys and said “Get the **** on the sidewalk”. According to a witness police grabbed the kid around the neck and repeatedly shot the unarmed kid

It's a possibility the police officer who shot and killed unarmed black teenager Michael Brown earlier this month may not ultimately face charges stemming from the incident, Gov. Jay Nixon, D-Mo., acknowledged Sunday.

I was just trying to get my bearings on the scene. So I grabbed screen shots from the front and back of OW vehicle. Then I realized that LE kept adding cars closer and closer so now I don't think it helped. but to answer LOVEJAC the hat was beside OW vehicle as if it fell when MB started to run FROM OW. Imo he thought he had knocked him unconscious.

Too much potential bias there for any reasonable person to overlook, but he is being kept on the case. This verdict will upset a lot of people, I fear - myself included (sigh). I suppose a lot of posters here will be thrilled. One thing for sure, a decision not to charge OW will do nothing positive as far as easing racial tensions in Ferguson or anywhere else in the USA! Esp. Since McCulloch is already seen as biased.
Maybe there is a reason he upheld the Grand Jury Decisions. They saw the evidence and didn't indict the officers. Maybe it was the right decision.

His Dad was killed about 50 yrs ago. I think he is able to do his job in a proper fashion now. Otherwise you are saying he could never be allowed to become a prosecutor. Are all of his cases involving black defendants going to be null and void?

It is interesting that you are saying that you will be upset if there is no indictment. I thought you said you had no theory yet because you don't have the facts. Sounds like you must have some kind of theory, right?

I said I had no theory specifically about the interaction in the police vehicle. I do have an opinion that the shooting of MB was tragic and unjustified.

Bob Mcculloch is a good Prosecutor. Here's his bio: http://www.stlouiscopa.com/Extras.aspx?ID=191

Usually the Prosecuting Attorney hands the case over to an Assistant Prosecutor.

The Grand Jury is composed of twelve citizens who are chosen at random by a circuit judge, who presides over the Grand Jury. A new Grand Jury is chosen for each of the three Terms of Court held each year.

Read at the above link to find out more about the St. Louis County grand jury procedure.

But if you don't know what happened in/at the car, seconds before the shooting, then how can you determine that the shooting was unjustified?
