The man suspected of the horrific crime, Carlos Antonio Holcombe, is a civilian Fort Bliss employee who has children of his own...

Holcombe, 43, was arrested Saturday night on suspicion of using a gun to kidnap a 12-year-old girl from a football scrimmage Friday night at Horizon High School, and then sexually assaulting her at a house. The girl was later dropped off outside a movie theater in far East El Paso where she ran to the first uniformed officer she saw.

"The selection of a victim was opportunistic," El Paso County Sheriff Richard Wiles said Monday. "But the situation was well-planned. He had a weapon, he had the duct tape, and he kept her blindfolded. "There were other things done after the crime to try to prevent us from tracing him."

Holcombe was arrested the day following the alleged kidnapping and sexual assault.

According to the complaint affidavit on the aggravated kidnapping, Holcombe asked the girl to help him move some boxes.

That's when he allegedly put a gun to the girl's back and forced her into his pickup truck.
