The four children were left alone in the day care van at a Jack in the Box and the vehicle was stolen with them still inside. Children are between the ages of 3 and 6 years old.

Thank goodness. I just can't even imagine why you'd want to steal a vehicle with that many kids inside. And shame on the driver for getting out and leaving the kids unattended. What's wrong with the drive through?

I looked up another article which cites the place where the vehicle was recovered and the man was arrested --- which about a mile from my house! I dropped my skirt off at the dry cleaner at that corner yesterday. What are the odds? This is so weird. I never start threads and the vehicle was not stolen near my house. Such an odd coincidence.

The man, Brenton Alex Simmons, has not yet been formally charged but authorities say he will likely face five counts of kidnapping.

Authorities apprehended Simmons Wednesday night at the intersection of Cinco Ranch Boulevard and Mason Road in Fort Bend County, some 22 miles away from the fast food joint on West Bellfort.

Police identified 34-year-old Latonya Renee Jackson as the driver of the van and said that, after contacting the district attorney's office, there are no plans to charge Jackson. She will instead be considered a victim in the incident, according to HPD public information officer John Cannon.

A Houston boy is happy to be home after a frightening ride inside a carjacked vehicle. His actions helped police rescue him and other children who were in the car...

"He said 'Hang on' and I was like 'Wait, you're in the wrong car' and he was like 'I know I'm stealing this car.'" With those words, 9-year-old Alex Veasley and four other children were off on the most dangerous ride of their young lives...

When Simmons stopped in Cinco Ranch to get gas, Alex saw an opportunity: a cell phone left behind by Latonya Jackson. "It was in a cup holder in the back seat, so I grabbed it and called 911."

Wow! That kid saved everyone in the van. The guy was gassing up and probably heading to I-10 and then what? I figured a cop saw them due to a BOLO. As for Ms Latonya...good thing she takes as much care of keeping track of her phone as she does a van load of kids. She would pray to be in jail when I got through with her if that was my child. Victim my rump.
