Vince Lee was an outgoing man with a big heart, his friends and family say. He was an athlete, an avid golfer who ran marathons, and a former paratrooper with the U.S. Army's 82nd Airborne Division.

But most of all, they say, Lee was a loving father. The 43-year-old medical supplies salesman had one son in college, and a 7-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son in Clearwater...

Lee won a decision in a child custody case against his ex-wife, according to Pinellas County court records. Jodi Pavlica Izzo, Lee's ex-wife, wanted to move their two children with her to Kentucky, but a judge denied her request.

An Army major accused of killing his wife's ex-husband was released on $1.5 million bail Thursday night, a rare case of a first-degree murder defendant being freed before trial...

Roman Izzo is married to Vincent Lee's ex-wife, Jodi. She and Izzo wanted to move the two children she shared with Lee out of state, but a judge would not allow it.

Izzo was stationed at Fort Benning, Ga., at the time. Later, in November 2011, Lee was found dead in his Clearwater apartment, having been killed in brutal fashion — shot five times, stabbed 10 times and his throat slit.

Defense attorney: Roman Izzo wasn't in Clearwater at time of grisly murder
November 17, 2015
A U.S. Army officer accused of murder will be in court today to ask if he can return to base and continue a distinguished military career before the trial begins.
But Maj. Roman Izzo's attorneys will do more at the hearing than just try to help a decorated war veteran keep his job. They plan to begin exposing potential cracks in the state's case.
They will start with a simple claim: Izzo, 37, could not have been in Clearwater at the time the murder took place. According to a court document, they will point to testimony from a Pinellas County medical examiner that muddies the exact time of the killing.

A U.S. Army officer accused of murder was injured in a motorcycle crash Monday night and remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Roman Dominic Izzo, 37, crashed his motorcycle into the back of a sedan when he failed to slow down with surrounding traffic on Interstate 275, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. He was not wearing a helmet, and was thrown from the motorcycle.

I can't believe he was allowed out after being accused of such a barbaric murder. I feel so, so sorry for Vincent's children and family members, how do you pick your life up after such a terribly violent death of a loved one.

I so hope Roman recovers and can face trial and, if found guilty, his full punishment.

I wonder if that accident was on purpose. Like maybe a suicide attempt.
