IN - Caleb Woosley, 17, brutally murdered, Richmond, 18 May 2014
Police say a Richmond teenager found dead in an alley died of blunt force trauma.
Richmond Police Department Capt. James Branum tells The Palladium-Item that 17-year-old Caleb Woosley was beaten to death.
Deandre D. Plant, 20, of 1028 S. 23rd St., Apt. 1423, in Richmond, and Kore Buchanan, 17, who lists an at-large address in Hamilton, Ohio, were charged this week with murder...
Michael Pruitt, 17, of 109 N. 12th St. was arrested in July on a count of murder for his alleged involvement in the killing of Woosley, who was found dead May 18 in the 200 block alley between North 14th and 15th streets.
David A. Maish, 18, of 115 N. 12th St. was arrested last week on a charge of assisting a criminal (a Class C felony).
The four are accused of attacking Woosley with a baseball bat in an alley. Woosley's body was found in the 200 block alley between North 14th and North 15th streets.
Branum confirmed that police believe the attack was motivated because the men thought Woosley was involved in a sexual assault on one of Buchanan's relatives. However, police have not found any evidence that a sexual assault occurred, he said.

Prosecutors this week added a number of new charges against the three people accused of the brutal beating death of a Richmond teen in an alley on the city’s near-north side in May...
In a statement given to police, Maish implicated Plant, Buchanan and Pruitt as the individuals who planned and committed Woosley's murder. Pruitt was arrested in July after police were provided a secretly recorded cellphone video in which Pruitt details his involvement in Woosley's killing.

An eastern Indiana teenager charged in connection with another teen's brutal beating death has agreed to plead guilty to assisting a criminal.
The Palladium-Item reports 18-year-old David A. Maish would serve two years in prison, followed by two years of probation under the proposed plea agreement a judge still must approve.
In exchange, he must testify against three fellow youths accused in the beating death of 17-year-old Caleb Woosley, whose body was found May 18 in a Richmond alley.
Maish told police he was at Pruitt’s home when the three teens met before the attack to plan the beating. They invited Maish to come along but he declined. But he did help the attackers clean up and dispose of their clothes after the incident.
Pruitt, Buchanan and Plant remain in the Wayne County Jail with no bail.

Appeals court OKs 60-year sentence for teen's 'gruesome' killing
The Indiana Court of Appeals has affirmed the 60-year sentence given to a Richmond teenager convicted of brutally murdering his friend.
Kore Buchanan, 19, was sentenced Oct. 21 to 60 years in prison with two suspended to probation for the May 2014 killing of Caleb Woosley. Buchanan's appeal challenged that Wayne Superior I Judge Charles Todd Jr. issued an inappropriate sentence, arguing Todd abused his discretion in weighing the aggravating and mitigating circumstances considered during sentencing.
Judge Robert Altice Jr. wrote the appeals court's opinion affirming Buchanan's sentence, with Judges Mark Bailey and Cale Bradford concurring.
Altice wrote that the sentence is appropriate considering the "gruesome nature" of the crime, Buchanan's character, lack of remorse and attempts to cover up his involvement.
