GA - Nizzear Rodriguez, 13, shot dead by intruders in Carrollton home, 24 Aug 2014
He wasnít even 5 feet tall and had only been 13 years old for a few hours. But Nizzear Rodriguez had big plans.
A straight-A student, Nizzear wanted to go to college, then create video games that were even better than the ones he loved to play. This fall, he planned to make the all-star team in recreation league basketball. And later this week, he was planning to go to an arcade with his dad to celebrate his birthday...
Instead, Nizzear was shot in the head around 2 a.m. Sunday as he slept in his grandmotherís Carrollton apartment, according to police.
Police say witnesses heard gunfire between 1 and 3 a.m. Sunday. They said televisions in the home may have drowned out the gunfire.
Carrollton homicide detectives said the 911 call went out at 12:16 p.m. Sunday. When police arrived the family had the boy in a car trying to rush him to the hospital, but it was too late.
Britannica Turner, 21, of Carrollton, was charged with making false statements, Capt. Chris Dobbs with Carrollton police said...
Earlier this week, three suspects were charged with murder in the case. Malik Davis, 17, Kenneth Wheat, 21, and Jackquline Leann Freeman, 24, all of Carrollton, were denied bond in court appearances.
Bond was set at $10,000 for Oleida Ward, 34, of Carrollton, charged with making false statements.

Kenneth Devion Wheat entered a guilty plea this past September but his sentencing is being withheld until the trial of Malik Lyndon Davis has concluded. In November, the judge granted Davis to receive a psychiatric evaluation.
