George Mason III spent a lot of time at the little cream-colored house at 820 Peach St. His half-brother Gabriel "Bo" Taylor lived there with their mother Tracy Taylor and their 81-year-old grandmother, Jannie V. Taylor. So did Tracy's other son, Ralph Peyton...

Police say Mason fatally shot Peyton, Jannie Taylor, and Tarasha Yata Townsend, his 37-year-old girlfriend and mother of two of his daughters. Gabriel Taylor, 33, was critically wounded.

According to investigators, Mason chased Gabriel Taylor to the nearby corner of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Main Street and shot him multiple times with a 9 mm handgun. Almost in the same moment, Mason was struck by a Dodge pickup truck heading east on MLK.

A career criminal with an arrest record that goes back more than two decades is facing three counts of murder and one count of attempted murder in connection with a mass shooting that occurred Friday night in Brooksville.

As George June Mason III attempted to flee the crime scene just as law enforcement arrived he was struck by a pick-up truck. He was transported to Regional Medical Center at Bayonet Point in Hudson with several broken bones.

from your last link:

".... lives next door, and heard the gunshot. Initially he thought someone threw a brick at his front door. He says he knows the victims, as well as the gunman. "He was crazy as hell. He's been crazy all his life." Said Townsend about Mason. "There's more to that, but I'm not going to say. "

poor neighbor .... it's tough to know someone is a loose cannon and know there is nothing you can do to stave off future violence moo

this story at link indicates he made a lot of admissions to first responders:

"“The driver talked to him at the scene, and the first responders, and he made a lot of spontaneous admissions. He was looking for his firearm after he got hit by the truck. He did admit to shooting people and the firearm being his.”

I think they're now looking for motive now and apparently Mason isn't cooperating any longer.

Police released a host of 911 tapes on Tuesday night, painting a chaotic picture. Several people called in to request help for the gunshot victims. The driver of a tan Dodge Ram 1500 called in to say he had just struck a man in the street. Other calls came from inside the home of where the shooting occurred.

A 16-year-old witness was inside the home when the gunfire started.

pretty clear from your last link -- LE has a ''fair idea'' of what was going on there......paraphrasing...someone was selling drugs from that house....

"The 42-year-old man accused of fatally shooting three people and injuring another Friday night was released from the hospital Wednesday and booked into the Hernando County Detention Center, according to jail records.
George Mason III was booked at about 4:30 p.m. after being treated at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point in Hudson. He suffered numerous broken bones and internal injuries when he was struck by a Dodge truck at the end of Friday's shooting rampage."

I'm surprised they moved him with this many injuries.

A little more than a month after a shooting rampage in south Brooksville left three people dead and a fourth victim in critical condition, accused killer George Mason III pleaded not guilty Tuesday to three counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted felony murder...

Assistant State Attorney Pete Magrino said he hasn't decided whether he will seek the death penalty in the case.

June 2018:

Brooksville man convicted of murder awaits possible death sentence

Although he was convicted last week on first-degree murder charges, George Mason III will wait nearly two months to find out whether he will face death for the crimes.

The fate of the 47-year-old Brooksville man — found guilty by a jury on June 15 of fatally shooting three people and critically injuring a fourth in 2014 — could have been decided Monday morning. But when Mason appeared before Hernando County Circuit Judge Stephen Toner and a jury for his penalty phase, his attorney Devon Sharkey asked that the court hold off until August.

"After speaking with our witnesses and gathering as much information as we can ... it seems the earliest that we would be able to proceed collectively ... would be Aug. 13," he told the court.

A Brooksville man convicted of killing his girlfriend and two others in a 2014 shooting rampage likely will spend the rest of his life in prison after a jury declined to sentence him to death.

George Mason III was convicted of the murders in June, but various delays pushed the penalty phase of his trial to this week. A jury handed down the recommendation Tuesday evening after deliberating for about an hour.

It came at the end of more than a week of testimony and arguments over whether Mason would get life or death. A judge will hand down Mason’s final sentence on Nov. 11.
