This will make you smile AND cry. The Cincinnati Bengals cut defensive tackle Devon Still from the team on Saturday. He admitted he wasn't giving football 100%. Why not?

Well, Still has had more pressing things on his mind. His 4-year-old daughter, Leah, was diagnosed with stage 4 pediatric cancer in June. So, the Bengals re-signed Still as a member of the practice squad. :loveyou:

The Bengals' kind gesture ensures that the Stills will have an income, health insurance for Leah, and that Devon will be able to spend more time at home with Leah. Best wishes for Leah! :heartbeat:

Beautiful! Thanks for sharing. I hope the sweet child recovers!

Wanted to share an update on Leah Still.

"After a 5hr 50min surgery the surgeon was able to remove ALL of her tumor and all of her lymph nodes and her right adrenal gland where it all started from...best news I've received in a long time."

Although the surgery got rid of Leah's tumor, she is still not cancer-free, Still said via twitter. He says she will continue treatment in hopes of removing cancer from her bone marrow.

My heart and prayers go out to that beautiful, sweetheart. :heartbeat:

HaHa! Leah wants her dad to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles. She received cancer treatments in Philly; but Devon Still signed for another year with the Bengals.

This is such wonderful news! I am so happy for this family. It is so heartwarming to read articles such as this-the Bengals' help and support, Leah's remission-I have two dils who work at Children's. A wonderful hospital. Bless this family

VOD is when microscopic veins are blocked in the liver; it tends to be a side effect of the very high doses of chemotherapy that are part of a stem cell transplant.

Leah is still undergoing stem cell treatment to rebuild her cells and ensure that the cancer remains in remission. Doctors are optimistic that the VOD was caught in time and can be treated.
