TX - San Antonio man shot GF's kids in the head
Investigators say Mercado shot the 6-year-old boy and 11-year-old girl on the city's Southeast Side around 1 p.m. Sunday in the 200 block of Anton Drive near Goliad Road.
The woman and her two young children were trying to leave their home after she got into a dispute with Mercado. He then reportedly went into the house, retrieved a gun, and fired at the vehicle. The woman pulled her two children out of the car before the boyfriend took off in her vehicle.
The young boy was shot in the face and taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center in critical condition. He has since undergone surgery. His sister was grazed in the head by a bullet and was taken to University Hospital. Both children are expected to survive.
Joe Ramos Mercado, the man police said shot two children over the weekend, is in police custody...
Mercado now faces two counts of aggravated assault with a weapon. He’s also charged with violating the terms of his parole...
As police led him in handcuffs to a patrol car waiting to take him to the Bexar County Jail, Mercado apologized to the victims' mother, Melissa Avalos, and to his family.

I'm glad the kids are going to be ok, but they will have to live with this mental trauma for the rest of their lives. And Mom too, seeing her children get shot.Vermont born and raised!
