Elswart Bodden will be tried on attempted homicide and related counts for allegedly stabbing a Lancaster city woman over 20 times during a Sept. 7, 2014, burglary at her West Orange Street home. Police allege Bodden, 23, chose the home at random and didn't know the woman inside.

The 27-year-old woman struggled with the intruder, according to police. Critically injured, she survived after emergency surgeries.

A Columbia man convicted of stabbing a 30-year-old Lancaster woman 25 times during a home-invasion last year is a “clear and present danger to society” and will spend the next 27 1/2 to 75 years in state prison...

Bodden also was ordered to pay more than $410,000 in restitution to the woman, who officials said during testimony lost more than 70 percent of her blood from the many stab wounds. Her trachea was pierced, one lung was punctured and her skull was fractured during the attack.
