LA - Angela Godley, 53, murdered in her Shreveport home, 10 Sept 2014
Angela Godley, 53, was discovered shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday in the 1900 block of Bayou Dr...
Investigators say Godley was shot at least once in the upper body.
Detectives say Godley shared the home with male companion 58-year-old Mark Colby. Colby has not been located or named as a suspect in Godley's death.
Godley lived with 57-year-old Mark Colby, police confirm. Sometimes called "Chef," Colby is the owner of Noble Savage Tavern in downtown Shreveport, according to several neighbors and public records...
Betty Butts, who lives next door, said she and Godley frequently chatted over the fence... One time, Butts had an emergency and called Godley, whom she described as an emergency room nurse. "She shot out the door. She was here. That was the type of person she was," Butts said. "She was very dedicated to her job. And she was very likeable."
Colby, whom Butts described as the slain woman's husband, "was not near as sociable as she was." Still, Butts said she never heard Godley complain about him.

She was an emergency room nurse at Christus Health who was "not overly sweet, but that kind of sassy sweet that only Southern women have," recalls Susan Garner, who said for many years she has frequented Noble Savage Tavern.
Mark Colby, 57, the man police believe fatally shot his romantic partner at the Shreve Island house they shared, was arrested in Mexico this morning around 11:15 a.m.
He is expected to be extradited to Texas today.

A Shreveport man wanted for this week's murder of his girlfriend was arrested by Mexican authorities. A Caddo judge signed an arrest warrant for Mark Colby, 58, Thursday evening, charging him with the second degree murder of his girlfriend, Angela Godley, 53...
Now comes getting him back to our area... Prosecutors say it's straight-forward since the U.S.-Mexico Extradition Treaty goes back to 1978. Even though this is a Caddo Parish case, D.A. Charles Scott says the State Department will handle the extradition process...
And here's a big point, Mexico, being an anti-death penalty country, will extradite to the U.S. only if the death penalty is not a possibility. Colby's current charge, second degree murder, carries a mandatory life sentence with conviction.

Apparently Colby is a big coward (IMO). He kills Angela and takes off for Mexico.
Rest in peace, Angela. D.A. Scott will make sure there is justice for you.

Angela Godley applied her talent for nurturing equally to her nursing patients at Christus Highland and patrons at Noble Savage Tavern in Shreveport.
Musicians and medical professionals joined family members at Godley's funeral this morning in Shreveport. Godley, 53, was shot to death in her Shreve Island home Wednesday. Mark Colby, her longtime boyfriend, faces a second-degree murder charge.
Godley was feisty and fun-loving, with a tough exterior that concealed endless compassion for the down-and-out, said Larry LaBorde, one of her cousins. "She patched up their bodies as a nurse," Laborde said. "She patched up broken hearts and lost souls wherever she found them."

New details have emerged surrounding the September slaying of 53-year-old Angela Godley, owner of downtown Shreveport's Noble Savage Tavern. Court documents filed in January shed light on a tense relationship between Godley and her longtime boyfriend, tavern founder Mark Colby...
Less than a month before Godley was found dead and bloodied in the laundry room of her Shreve Island house, Colby obtained a new passport... Godley, in handwritten notes addressed to Colby found under a bed in the home they shared, tried to end the relationship and asked Colby to find a new place to live, according to Dailey.
She'd covered for him financially, paying some $15,000 in fines related to copyrighted music performed at Noble Savage Colby was responsible for and apparently kept hidden, as Detective Sherita Holden wrote in a police narrative. When Godley asked to be repaid, Colby reportedly refused...
