Something strange seems to be happening in Ocala, Florida. Is someone possibly going on a rampage of drive-by shootings? Toddlers age 4 and 6 are stable after being shot early this morning.

'Late last month, a mother and her 11-month-old son were shot while they slept in their apartment at 2135 NW First Ave. The young mother was hit in the back of her right leg and her baby's left foot was injured.'

Then one home on Northwest 26th was shot at two nights in a row, this Wednesday and Thursday, but no-one was hurt.

Then, in the early hours today:

'At 2:10 a.m. Friday, officers were called to the second drive-by, in which two brothers, ages 4 and 6, were shot while they slept in a home in the 1100 block of Northwest Third Street, Woods said. Several rounds were fired into the home. One boy was hit in the abdomen, and the other in the buttocks'

Anyone with information about any of the shootings can call the OPD at 369-7000 or Crime Stoppers at 368-STOP, text a tip to 274637 using keyword 368-STOP, or visit www.ocalacrimestoppers.com.

They were all in Northwest as well. Is that just one big street or an area, locals?

Eta: I'd like to know if that home where nobody was injured had small children in it too.

The apartment address: http://goo.gl/maps/1SnLf
It looks more northeast Ocala to me but I don't what is considered the divider from east & west. Obviously, not Hwy 301 as I would have guessed. I've visited there before but not enough to know the different areas. I know it is typical of most cities with a distinct economic divide between lower income to the very wealthy. It is horse country in parts and rural in parts and very urban in parts.

???

'Police said they responded to a different drive-by shooting also on Northwest 3rd Street on Wednesday night. A 23-year-old was shot to the back of the head but is expected to recover.

The 23-year-old victim, Adonnis Boyd, checked out of the hospital against medical advice and has been uncooperative with investigators.'

Police are still working to see if shootings are related. Good.

The 6 year old shot has metamorphosised now into an 8 year old. And the 'nobody injured' shooting Wednesday turns out to have a 23 year old victim shot in the head?

Sorry, but there is a heck of a difference between nobody injured and 'shot in the head', even if they walked out of hospital. And just who is driving by houses and shooting little children in Ocala? Who might be next?

Any updates?
