I hope this is okay to post.

The breaking point came in 2009 when — after she threatened her family with violence and set a fire in her school — two burly police officers bundled Shyana Popplestone, then 11, into an ambulance that whisked the troubled girl to the emergency department of Alberta Children’s Hospital.

That’s where mom Jacqueline Popplestone desperately told a psychiatric nurse: “Either she gets admitted or I get admitted over at Foothills. Something has to be done. Something’s not right. I’m tired of her being pushed around and her falling through the cracks and people not following up.”

"The family adopted Hope 10 days before her 11th birthday, and when they learned of her deep attachment to her little sister, they took in four-year-old Shyana, too"

hope she's safe--she's had a rough go of it

    Wow.

She's definitely had a rough past, and God bless the family that adopted her and Hope and fought for nearly a decade to get help for them!

And it's pretty evident from what wasn't spelled out (and understandably so) that the concern about her missing and the heads up to multiple provinces is because the medicine she's not on is mental health related.

Shyana received numerous diagnoses: attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (combined type), chronic post-traumatic stress disorder and others Popplestone declines to name because it upsets Shyana.
It's sure evident that they've just continued to fight for Shyana and push to get her help and want to see her continue to progress.

Her mom's pride in her, and Shyana's touching comments when she got to dog sit, make me hope even more than I would anyway, that Shyana's located and able to get back on track.

“She is a different person,” says Popplestone, near tears. “The improvements we’ve seen since January this year, we’re so proud of her achievements.”

Shyana was even hired as a dog sitter for a neighbour’s three dogs. “She was so impressed, saying ‘I can’t believe somebody believes in me.’

“But it’s not over. This is lifelong.”
Mom being aware that it would be a lifelong journey is SO huge in situations like this!

It's something far too few realize, especially in many adoption instances when they think being able to get some help and stability will be a cure-all, particularly if the child was adopted while younger (like Shyana, being 4 - whereas many would think the older daughter, having been 11 then, would be less likely to)

The difficulty in getting help and the stigma mom mentions is so true.

I know several, including people in my own family who have walked through a very, very similar situations, though here in the States. Hard, hard stuff.

Praying Shyana is found, and also for her family who clearly care about her and are surely worried.

I hope her parents have seen that and know that she's still alive. I'm presuming the police in Canada know about her twitter account.

She's such a pretty kid, but what a tough start she's had in her life. I just hope she decides to come home soon.

Hope someone responsible sees it before the gangs and human traffickers do, she might be the ideal target, imo...

    This WSer does - http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sho...7#post10619497

They did it for the Sarah Goode case and passed along what they figured out to LE. LE thanked him/her and they communicated and the WSer created a map based on the victim's tweets and basically had managed to lay out their entire evening prior to being killed.

Maybe they would look at that recent tweet from Shyana?
