Jones is convinced Sabrina McLean, 54, of Brockton, was already dead before a tow truck backed over her half-naked body in the garage on Frederick Douglass Avenue...

Although officials haven’t released her cause of death, Jones – who is the aunt of two of McLean’s daughters – is convinced someone killed her and left her dead or dying in the garage just off Main Street in the center of the city.

“I don’t think that poor man (truck driver) had anything to do with her dying,” said Jones. “I think she was dead before he hit her.”

Plymouth County Assistant District Attorney Keara Kelley said that the victim, Sabrina McLean, 54, had bruises and cuts on her face and swelling around the eyes, injuries that may be consistent with blunt force trauma. McLean also had lower body injuries that may be consistent with being run over by a truck, Kelley said. Tests were performed, Kelley said, to determine if McLean was the victim of sexual assault, but those results are pending as is the cause and manner of death.

George Rhodes, 47, of Main Street, Brockton, pleaded not guilty to charges of aggravated assault and battery and unarmed robbery in connection with the death of 54-year-old Sabrina McLean, who was naked from the waist down when she was run over on a parking garage ramp...

“The investigation has determined that Rhodes assaulted and robbed the victim and then left the scene minutes before the tow truck arrived,” the DA’s office said.

George Rhodes Jr., 48, of Brockton, who had previously been charged with aggravated assault and battery and unarmed robbery in the case, was indicted Friday by a grand jury on new charges of murder and armed robbery...

During Rhodes’ Sept. 12 arraignment, prosecutors said that although McLean and Rhodes did not know each other, surveillance video showed an unsteady McLean walking arm-in-arm with Rhodes on Main Street as early as 10:20 p.m. on the night of the incident...

After a five-day trial, a jury deliberated less than two hours before finding George Rhodes, 49, guilty on one count of first degree murder in the death of 54-year-old Sabrina McLean. Brockton Superior Court Judge Richard Chin sentenced Rhodes to serve life in prison at MCI-Cedar Junction.

“On September 8, 2014, 54-year-old Sabrina McLean was taken from her five children and grandchildren for absolutely no reason,” DA Cruz said. “Her children sat through this trial and heard grueling details of how Mr. Rhodes left their mother to die alone in the dark that night. We thank the jury for seeing the facts of this case and delivering justice to the McLean family.”
