TX - Jasleen Valdez, 3, found in shallow grave in Laredo, Aug 2014

The Laredo Police Department says the body of a child was found in a shallow grave in an empty lot Thursday morning.

The child originally lived in Chicago, and through a joint effort with the Houston Police Department, detectives were led to Laredo: specifically to Springfield and Michigan Street.

Jasleen Valdez's body was found Thursday in North Laredo.

Police are holding the 20-year-old mother at the Webb County Jail and her 24-year-old boyfriend in Houston. Their names have not been released yet.

Detainees, the mother of minor, Janette Irene Pantoja of 20 years and his girlfriend are Christian Yépez 24. He was arrested in Houston, Texas and will be transferred to Laredo...

The couple is from Chicago, although his last address was in Houston. Relatives of the father of the child, in Illinois, asked them more than one week ago by the small, when the couple return without it. The couple opted out of Chicago, going to Houston, where a domestic problem, take out the murder and burial of the minor.

Christian Yepez and Janette Irene Pantoja were arrested and charged in mid-September with killing her daughter, Jasleen Valdez...

The indictment charges them both with murder and injury to a child, both first-degree felonies, and tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony.

On Sept. 11, Pantoja led detectives to the shallow grave Valdez was buried in.

The day before, she had approached Houston PD, saying that Yepez had killed and buried her daughter.
