Rowan Co. Deputies: 15-year-old missing since 2011

Updated: 11:02 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2013 | Posted: 4:53 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2013
ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. —Erica Parsons is a 15-year-old from Rowan County; she was adopted as a baby.

On Monday night, her grandparents said that no one has seen her since 2011 -- yet she is just now being reported as missing. They told Eyewitness News they thought she was visiting other family.

Erica Parson's grandparents told Eyewitness News they've been asking their son or daughter where the teenager was, but they just learned two weeks ago that Parsons was missing.

It has been two years, and according to deputies, no one has seen or heard from 15-year-old Parsons.

Six threads and still no Erica :(

Still thinking about this sweet girl every day.

Also still fuming about Casey's version of events on that website. Repeatedly throwing Carolyn under the bus in a "can you guys BELIEVE her?" sort of way every other sentence.. just ughh. So passive aggressive and deflective and pseudo-saintly.

Makes me sick seeing what people can pretty much get away with these days :( still no erica :(

Wondering if we'll ever hear any charges to be brought for impersonating a CPS worker...

Erica, we are all here for you. :heartbeat:

Casey and Sandy have a heart, speak out and absolve your conscience!

The government is piling up stacks of documents from financial institutions, healthcare providers, even schools to be used in the prosecution of Casey and Sandy Parsons.

The adoptive parents of missing Rowan County teenager Erica Parsons will on trial in federal court on October 14. The couple faces more than 70 charges of financial crimes...

Attorneys representing the Parsons in the financial crime trial do not want testimony about any alleged of abuse of Erica or any discussion of her disappearance to be allowed to be introduced.

Hopefully , somehow in all of this they can find Erica. I do NOT believe a whole lot in plea downs and lowering charges for cooperation etc. But I would have to say finding Erica trumps these financial charges, so hopefully there is some wiggle room there . But I'm guessing life in prison on financial charges looks a lot better than DP if she is found, eh?

Oops, did I say that out loud ?
Thank you everyone who keeps Erica's thread fresh.

These grifters are tough nuts to crack. I hate plea bargains too but I agree that Erica's whereabouts - alive or dead - takes priority. I could live with Sandy getting off easy on the financial fraud charges and facing reduced charges in Erica's disappearance if he agrees to roll on his wife but it's hard to imagine that happening.

Casey and Sandy aren't the brightest bulbs in the pack but they have street smarts when it comes to working the system. Fortunately, people like them tend to fail epically once they're caught and standing in a courtroom.

The hot water is slowly coming to a boil...

From September 11:

In court on Thursday there was a change in the custody plan, removing the option of reunification.

From September 25:

[Subpoenas include] several banks, medical institutions like the Stanly County Dental Clinic and Carolinas Healthcare, the Great Lakes Educational Corporation, phone companies like Sprint, and even the Cabarrus County Department of Social Services and the Rowan County Department of Social Services.

The Feds don't mess with fraud. I'm STILL reading the charges, slowly, to let it all sink in. It doesn't surprise me that the judge ruled out reunification since it's more than likely both parents will be doing enough Fed. prison time for the fraud. By the time they get out, those children will probably be legal adults.

As for Erica, I have a gut feeling she will never see direct justice. Casey and Sandy are holding firm with their Nan-sense.

BBM:

These two people have no heart OR conscience, IMO. They also do not have the ability to tell the truth either.

jellybeanz, I join you in the heartbreak for our Erica, though.

One can only hope ;)

Casey pled guilty today to sixteen federal fraud charges. Sentencing is scheduled for February 10, 2015. She faces a potential of 202 years in prison and $2.5 million in fines if she's sentenced to the maximum penalty. Sandy's case is still pending.

:jail: Well, Casey, I guess you're headed to prison. You kept yourself from having to answer questions on the stand about Erica, though, didn't you?

So much for the parsons collecting those monies legally and rightly (see Atty sherill's early statements in that regard when Erica's case first broke in the news)

I can hardly wait to hear :hearno: his spin on Casey's guilty plea. :blah:

we haven't heard much from that attorney of late. Wondering if he is still representing them.

Casey Parsons pleaded guilty to fraud charges Wednesday morning, according to court documents. Casey Parsons pleaded guilty to 16 counts of fraud. Documents said the government may not oppose dismissal of the remaining counts.

Casey Parsons sentencing will be Feb. 10, 2015 in Winston-Salem federal court.

story from 9-11-14

In motions filed Wednesday, attorneys for both Casey and Sandy Parsons asked the federal judge to prohibit testimony about any "alleged physical abuse or mistreatment" of Erica Parsons.
The motions also asked to deny any testimony or evidence regarding the Parsons' "alleged involvement" in Erica's disappearance in 2013.
The attorneys argued that information had no bearing on the allegations of fraud and identity theft and told the judge it could possibly confuse or mislead the jury.
The judge has not yet ruled on the motions.

Noticed the last few brief statements from attorneys for the Parsons do not even so much as name the attorneys or provide direct quotes. A very noticeable change in style from previous statements by Attorney Sherrill regarding the Erica disappearance.

Makes me wonder if Sherrill left the situation long ago and the new attorneys have no wish to publish their names in the press.
