Hannah Graham, 18, was last seen on surveillance video at a Charlottesville Irish pub around 12:46 a.m. Saturday, reports the station. About a half hour later, around 1:20 a.m., she texted a friend saying she was lost in the area of 14th and Wertland Streets.

Now, investigators say they don't believe she was in that area at all, reports the station.

"We don't know whether it was auto correct on her phone or she just typed it in wrong, we have no idea," Charlottesville Police Capt. Pleasants told the station.

Police are now working with the Federal Bureau of Investigations to retrieve phone data that might show where that text was sent from.

[...]

The timeline of the last hours anyone heard from her is:

11: 50 p.m. Friday, Graham was last seen by friends at Camden Plaza Apartments, in the 200 block of 14th Street NW.
12:45 a.m. Saturday she was seen on surveillance video outside of McGrady’s Pub on Grady Street.
1:20 a.m. Saturday, she sends a text to friends saying she was lost in the area around 14th and Wertland Streets.

Google maps indicates the distances between these places would make for substantial walks, especially for person “fairly well intoxicated,” as police and friends say she was.

Pleasants said the camera outside McGrady’s Irish Pub showed Graham walking “in front of the building for several minutes, apparently it appears, maybe even talking to someone, and then walking away — leaving eastbound on Grady at 12:46 a.m.”

Search for missing UVa student Hannah Graham intensifies

By Dean Seal The (Charlottesville) Daily Progress

The search for a University of Virginia student shifted Tuesday after police obtained video showing her walking outside a Charlottesville bar, but authorities appeared to draw no closer to finding her three days after her disappearance.

As the FBI, state Department of Emergency Management and search dog teams joined the effort to find second-year student Hannah Elizabeth Graham, 18, a familiar mystery gripped Central Virginia, where a string of young women have gone missing over the past five years, starting with Morgan Harrington in 2009.

Police set up a tip line at (434) 295-3851, along with a command post at the Albemarle County Police Department. Tips have flooded in, police said.

“We’ve gotten probably about 60 calls in relation to the case, and every little bit helps,” said city police spokesman Lt. Ronnie Roberts. “You may think it’s not important, but if you have any information — any at all — please call.”

By MEGHAN KENEALLY and MISEON LEE via Good Morning America

A man seen following missing University of Virginia student Hannah Graham in newly released security footage told police that he was following Graham because she appeared "physically distressed" and he was trying to help her.

The man told police that he stopped following Graham when he she met a second man that she seemed to know and put his arm around her, according to police.

The videos that include the man, who has not been publicly identified, is the latest clue in the search for missing sophomore who has not been heard from since she texted friends just before 1:20 a.m. Saturday.

Surveillance videos of the last time missing University of Virginia student Hannah Graham was seen were released today and they appear to show the sophomore running at one point and retracing her steps as if she was uncertain of which way to go.

Charlottesville police also said that there is a legitimate reason to consider Graham's case as similar to that of at least one other girl who has disappeared in the area in the past five years.

“Both of them occurred within the proximity of the University of Virginia. Both of them are young girls,” Chief Timothy Longo said in reference to the 2009 case of Morgan Harrington.

"Those of us who know and love Hannah know that she would not disappear without contacting family or friends," the student's family said in a statement released by the university.

"We urge anyone with any information, however insignificant it may seem, to call a newly dedicated tip line at 434-295-3851 at the Charlottesville Police Department," the family said.

They described Graham as being "highly responsible and organized" and said "all summer she was looking forward to the start of the new school year."

"She embraces life with energy and enthusiasm and has enriched the lives of many. Her empathy is evident in her daily interactions with us and her friends," the statement from John, Susan and James Graham stated.

"The kindness and support of so many – her friends at U.Va., particularly her friends on the Ski Team, her friends from high school, our neighbors, and the larger community – mean so much to us at this difficult time," the statement concluded.

Could there be a link to the Harrington case?

"Certainly the question has arisen. It's certainly a legitimate question," Charlottesville Police Chief Timothy Longo told reporters Wednesday.

"If there comes a time where we believe there is a substantive link to those two investigations, we'll share that with you," he said.

So far, the police chief said, investigators haven't found anything to tie the two cases. And they haven't found any sign of foul play, despite the concerns the teen's parents have expressed.

"As a parent, I'd be very concerned, but we don't have any substantive evidence to confirm that," he said. "But you know, they're speaking from their heart."

Hannah Graham search: Police execute warrant at apartment, but find no sign of missing U.Va. student
By ABC News, ABC 7 News, Associated Press
September 19, 2014 - 10:50 am -- Updated: September 19, 2014 - 12:47 pm

Charlottesville police rushed to an apartment in the 100 block of Hessian Hills Way, off Barracks Road, that they believed was the last place that the 18-year-old was seen - however they found no sign of her.

There were people in the apartment, but police have not arrested anyone at this time.

In addition to the apartment, sealed search warrants also covered a car and a phone, according to police. The warrants were executed one day after a description of a person of interest was released along with a $50,000 reward about Graham's disappearance.

All three search warrants were connected to the same person of interest. The person sought at the apartment doesn't quite match description police gave Thursday, officials said.

This, in fact, may be the critical red line between “good” Internet sleuths and “bad”: The former work to help actual investigators; the latter want to be the investigators, themselves. Before the two entered the bar, witnesses saw the man, dressed in all white, put his hands around Graham's waist. At the bar, the man bought alcohol, and he and Graham left after 15 minutes, Longo said.
