The boys on Bandit Fishing Team thought they were part of something unique. They were promised a chance to fish, drive a boat and become a leader.
But what the Long Island kids were really exposed to was the perverted fantasy life of "Captain Ron," a 35-year-old Mastic Beach man who was arrested last month on child porn charges.

Ronald Rivera - the self-proclaimed captain of a two-person boat called Bandit: The Ultimate Predator - has spent at least four years recruiting young boys to be part of his boat crew, sources and police said.

Cops nabbed the boatman after three months of lurid Internet chat room conversations between Rivera and an undercover cop he believed to be 13-year-old "Luke Collins" from Queens. Rivera was eager to meet the boy and asked to have sex with him, but he wound up getting arrested while sitting naked at his computer, authorities said.

What police did not know was that Rivera maintained an extensive Web site to recruit "10- to 16-year-old children" to work on the Bandit team.

Also on the site are names of some two dozen boys who worked on the boat and photos of phony adult advisers to make the Bandit team seem more legitimate, investigators said.
