BETHALTO -- A local woman disappeared from a St. Louis bar early Saturday morning.

Paula J. Weinmann, 36, of Bethalto, was last seen around 1 a.m. Saturday in Paddy O’s Bar in St. Louis.

She got separated from friends and disappeared.

Authorities found her car registration lying on an East St. Louis Street later Saturday, and her car parked on the 1900 block of East John Avenue in St. Louis on Sunday. More at link:

This woman is from my hometown. I do not know her or her family but it is my understanding that she has a young son. I am praying for her safe return.

Sounds like an auto theft/carjacking gone bad maybe? I hope they find her soon...

Me too, lady-eowyn. Her registration and car were both found in a very crime ridden area. I am hoping someone will provide a picture of Paula so that I can post it here. There was not any television coverage of this on the local news this weekend. St. Louis was also having it's annual fair this past weekend, so there were huge crowds in the downtown area all weekend. I pray someone comes forward with information.

Oh, East St. Louis is not a real safe area. Hope this lady is okay.

Yep, info from this story http://www.ksdk.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=81422 confirms that the pictures I posted from the link above are her.

A poster at the zwire site that nixmom linked to in the original post on this thread found those links I posed above. Their post is now on the bottom of the page http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?..._id=25271&rfi=6

I frequently go to paddy o's with my friends and there's always someone trying to pick us up from there. It's a dangerous part of town and my boyfriend gets mad when I go there and walk to my car alone.
I pray for this woman, but it doesn't look good :(

Thanks for those links PrayersforMaura. She looks like a fun lady to be around. I do hope she is OK, but it sure doesn't look good does it. :(

Thanks for posting the links with her photos PrayersForMaura. I'm hoping that with the large crowds downtown for the fair someone will see her picture and have information. I've only been to Paddy O's once after a day game. It didn't seem like too bad of a place to me, but again it was midafternoon when I was there. I can't get past where her registration and car were found to feel that this will come to a good conclusion.

Hopefully you will keep this in mind before you walk to the car alone again?

"UPDATE:

Two men cutting grass today discovered the badly decomposing body of a Bethalto woman missing since Saturday behind a business in Belleville.

Police believe the woman’s body may have been dumped behind 610 N. 89th Street. Belleville Police asked for the help from the area Major Case Squad, on both sides of the river, to assist in the murder investigation.
"

the cause of death not yet determined :(

Man, I go to Paddy o's ALL the time. I have always felt safe going there by myself and walking to my car by myself :(
I will not feel so safe next time.

Oh no....I had a feeling this is how this one would turn out...I hope they find who did this and...well, I'd like to see them strung up :behindbar

I "knew" in my heart that it was going to end this way. I hope that her many friends and team members give her a wonderful rememberance.

It sounds like she was a really fun person with a spark for life. I hope they catch the scum-sucker(s) who did this.

Several Leads In Case of Missing Woman Bethalto Woman Found Dead"Several leads could point major case squad investigators to a killer. More than fifteen investigators are working to help solve the murder of Paula Weinmann. The body of the 36 year old Bethalto woman was found Wednesday afternoon in Belleville.

Paula Weinman was a sports fan who loved the St. Louis Blues and the Cardinals. The mother of two children was last seen alive Friday night. Her car and registration were recovered during the weekend.

"Weinmans family and friends declined an interview Wednesday, but thanked the media for helping in the case. Also the St. Louis Blues sent condolences to the family. They say Weinman epitomized the dedicated enthusiasm and love for blues hockey that fans have built over time."

"This morning, authorities found a piece of Weinmann's property from her car near Illinois Route 15 and 74th Street in Belleville, said Sgt. Don Sax of the Belleville Police Department.

Sax, who also is deputy commander of the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis, would not elaborate on what, exactly, was found. He also declined to answer where Weinmann had been shot.

Weinmann's Ford Taurus had been found over the weekend in North St. Louis. Earlier reports had surfaced that her car registration had been found near East St. Louis, but Sax said that these reports did not appear to true.

He said investigators continued to delve into Weinmann's whereabouts in recent days, and that as of this afternoon, they had not focused in on any people of interest.

I don't get this:

Police say the two men had contact with Weinmann's car at some point, and were allegedly buying materials at the store to destroy evidence in the case.

Investigators refused to say where the store is located, or the name of the store. Anyone who recognizes the men should call their local police department.
How do they know these men had contact with Weinmann's car...fingerprints? And if they have fingerprint's how do they connect them with these two men on the video and not know who they are?

My guess would be they have further surveilance video showing them in contact with the car. In fact the article says they released video showing them outside the store, but the pictures in this story look like inside pics to me so there must be more.
