    NH - Robert, 71, & Constance Dion, 67, murdered, Manchester, 19 March 2014

St. Petersburg police and the U.S. Marshals Service on Tuesday said that Matthew Thomas Dion has been in the St. Petersburg, FL, area since late March and was last seen earlier this month. New Hampshire investigators have been looking for the 38-year-old Dion since the bodies of his parents were found after an explosion and fire March 24 at the Manchester home they shared with him.

The death certificates filed in Hillsborough County Probate Court show that Robert Dion, 71, and Constance Dion, 67, were strangled with a wire on March 19. The medical examiner's report said they died within minutes and listed their deaths as homicides. Investigators concluded the fire was intentionally set. Authorities in New Hampshire obtained arrest warrants charging Matthew Dion with two counts of second-degree murder and arson.

Also, three counts of possession of child pornography were filed against him in April. Investigators sifting through the charred home found evidence linking Dion to the material.

Police say Dion befriended a woman in St. Pete and had been living with her under an alias for months.

She tells police that money started to go missing from her accounts. Then, two weeks ago, he reportedly stole her car.

The reward for information leading the location and arrest of Matthew Dion has been increased to $10,000. He is facing charges of second-degree murder, arson, and possession of child pornography.

Officials said he should be considered armed and dangerous. Investigators said he has changed his appearance by shaving his beard and cutting his hair. He has some distinguishing features, such as a small but noticeable scar in the middle of his forehead and badly discolored -- almost black -- teeth.

The U.S. marshals said they believe he returned to the Atlanta area after he was in Florida, and he has an extensive history in the southeastern United States.

Thanks for starting this thread. This murder occurred close to where I grew up and I went to school with Dion. I hope they find him soon.

Investigators said last year they believed the 38-year-old Matthew Dion was in St. Petersburg, Florida, and in Atlanta. They said he may be driving a car he stole in Florida in September and possibly armed with a handgun stolen from a Florida home about the same time.

There is no earthly reason my mind should leap to the Dermonds is GA, the Rentzs in TX and the Isoms in CA.

The only common denominator is they were all elderly couples and all murdered violently, presumably in their own homes and they all remain unsolved.

For whatever reason, looking at this dude's mugshot made me think "yeah, he would be the type of dude who would not be bothered by killing elderly folks. Not if he started with his own."

    Earlier this month:

Dion pleaded guilty in Hillsborough County Superior Court North to two counts of second-degree murder and to arson.

Under a negotiated plea, he was sentenced to 60 years to life in New Hampshire State Prison, essentially assuring he will die there...

According to Senior Assistant Attorney General Jeffery A. Strelzin, Dion never expressed any remorse for killing his parents... Strelzin told reporters that investigators theorized Robert Dion, 71, discovered stamps missing from his extensive collection and on March 19, 2014, confronted his son, who killed the retired North Salem postmaster. Then, Matthew Dion murdered his mother and drove to Boston, where he sold off some of his father's stamps at the Colonial Trading Co., Strelzin said.
