MA - Fugitive sex offender armed and dangerous, may be in CT *Arrested*

A Massachusetts resident who is believed to be armed and dangerous may be somewhere in Connecticut.

Gregory Lewis, 26, of Southbridge, is wanted for several outstanding felony warrants, according to the Southbridge Police Department’s official Facebook page.

Lewis went missing on Sept. 20 after cutting off a GPS monitoring bracelet he had on for an on-going case involving the rape of a child. He then fled in his parents’ 2004 blue Jeep Grand Cherokee. The license number is 85GF63, and is from Massachusetts, though he may have changed the plates since then.

According to police, Lewis returned to his parents' house in Southbridge and seriously assaulted a family member, who was left tied up and handcuffed to prevent police from being called. "Lewis then armed himself with a handgun and left the residence," according to police.

Lewis was arraigned in Dudley District Court on Aug. 6 on two counts each of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 and statutory rape of a child, according to The Associated Press. Lewis was released on $1,000 bail and was ordered to stay away from the alleged victim...

Law enforcement officials say a man accused of child rape in Massachusetts is now wanted in Colorado on sexual assault and other charges.

Denver police are asking for the public's help in finding 26-year-old Gregory Lewis, who's wanted on sexual assault, kidnapping and robbery charges.

Authorities say they believe Lewis is in the Denver area, and he should be considered armed and dangerous.

Massachusetts State Police say Gregory Lewis has been arrested in Fort Edward. Massachusetts State Police say a New York State Trooper tried to pull Lewis over for a missing license plate. Police say he fled into the Village and crashed into a river. Massachusetts State Police say preliminary reports indicate Lewis exited the vehicle and brandished a gun.

Gregory Lewis, 26, is suspected of traveling the United States on a weeks-long violent crime spree after he was accused of raping a 13-year-old girl and he fled Massachusetts during the summer, the Massachusetts State Police said in a statement.

Lewis is accused of raping, kidnapping and robbing several prostitutes in North Carolina, Colorado and Oregon, as well as the armed robbery of a woman working for an escort service in Indianapolis, police said. Police said he was likely returning to Massachusetts when he was arrested.

A man suspected of child-rape and committing crimes across the country after snipping off his court-ordered ankle bracelet had an “ultimate goal” of returning to Massachusetts to kill his 13-year-old accuser, state police said Wednesday, hours after he was captured in New York...

“It was almost like he had nothing to lose. It was his last hurrah, and he was going to go out and do as much damage as he possibly could,” said Detective Lt. Michael Farley, commander of the State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section.

Police said Lewis told multiple people he planned to return to Massachusetts. “He had made statements that his ultimate goal was to come back and kill the victim from his original charge,” Farley said.

Lewis, 26, of Southbridge was arraigned Monday on 17 felony counts before Judge James R. Lemire. Lewis pleaded not guilty to two counts of rape of a child aggravated by age difference, two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child, indecent exposure and receiving stolen property in the Aug. 6 incident.

In a second indictment opened Monday, dealing with the Sept. 15 incident, Lewis faces charges of aggravated kidnapping, armed robbery and assault and battery on an elderly person as well as larceny, weapons and intimidation charges...

Charges also have been drawn up against Lewis in Denver, Colo., according to Lynn Kimbrough, spokeswoman for the Denver District Attorney. In that city, Lewis was indicted on charges attempted murder, sexual assault, assault and aggravated robbery charges. Lewis allegedly made arrangements to meet a woman in Denver, then attacked and sexually assaulted her and robbed her at gunpoint, Kimbrough said.
