Kenneth Miller, 48, is accused of putting 47-year-old Kelly Thompson's body in the trunk of the car, then setting it on fire. He's being held on $1.5 million bond...

Investigators say they found a lot of evidence of a crime scene at the house where Thompson and Miller lived, but didn't elaborate.

Firefighters who responded to a car fire reported at 11:43 p.m. on Saturday off Bope and Miller Siding roads near Rushville found a burned body in the trunk, according to the sheriff’s office incident report.

Miller and Thompson had been in a romantic relationship that went bad, Phalen said.

He said an autopsy conducted yesterday showed that the death was “clearly a homicide,” but he refused to say how and where Thompson was killed.

There's a very odd message on her fb on Sept 19. I wonder if she wrote it, or if her fb was open and someone else wrote it to her. It doesn't seem to match her writing style, but ... I donno. It's disturbing.

She sure loved her grandson.

What a horrible tragedy. I'm glad that an arrest has been made so immediately.

While crime scene investigators were processing the Rushville crime scene, 48-year-old Kenneth N. Miller, of Pleasantville, was being cited by the Ohio Highway Patrol on allegations of driving under the influence and leaving the scene of a crash in Perry County.

The crash was reported at 2:50 a.m. Sept. 28, three hours after 47-year-old Kelly Thompson, of Lancaster, was discovered in an abandoned car’s trunk that was found near a wooded area off Gun Barrel Road. Miller was driving a Chevrolet pickup truck north on Ohio 204 in Perry County when he reportedly went left of center, striking an oncoming vehicle, causing it to crash into a guardrail, according to crash reports...

Six hours after the crash occurred, Miller had contact with law enforcement officials again, but this time with Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office after a 911 call regarding an attempted suicide was made from his residence at 6535 Cattail Road in Pleasantville, about 4 miles from where Thompson’s body was found.

The comments sound like it's her own post. A friend asks her a question and she replies.

During Miller's competency hearing Friday, Sanderson asked that Miller be transferred to the jail's general population and wear standard-issued inmate garb, instead of an anti-suicide smock that he's been wearing since his Sept. 28 arrest.

Sanderson did not contest the prosecution's evaluation findings claiming Miller is competent to stand trial, and he asked Miller's mental health findings be forwarded to the jail staff to reconsider Miller's status in isolation...

Miller had entered a not guilty by reason of insanity plea, which Fairfield County Prosecutor Gregg Marx said still stands despite Miller being ruled competent to stand trial Friday.

After admitting to killing his 47-year-old girlfriend by shooting her and disposing of her body in the trunk of her burning car, Kenneth Miller will face 40 years to life in prison...

Berens said Miller choked Thompson to unconsciousness. While unconscious, he dragged her from the living room of his home to his bedroom and shot her in the forehead with a .22-caliber rifle. A pair of socks also was found in Thompson's mouth...

Miller accepted a plea deal last month, admitting to one count of murder with a firearms specification, kidnapping, two aggravated robbery charges, two tampering with evidence charges, grand theft of a motor vehicle, arson and gross abuse of a corpse.
