Kittson County Sheriff Kenny Hultgren says investigation remains active into the disappearance of a Lake Bronson woman a year ago Thursday even though the case has run out of leads.

Dawn Carlson was 43 when she was last seen in her car in Karlstad, about 20 miles from her home. The sheriff says they haven't ruled out foul play but he says Carlson may have had some impairment from late term effects of Lyme disease.

"Now that hunting season is approaching, we ask that hunters please report if any abandoned cars are seen or anything else that would help locate Dawn," said her cousin, Lynette (Grahn) Taylor, who lives in Deerwood.

Although several air and ground searches were conducted last fall, authorities and family members found no sign of Carlson or her vehicle, a black 2001 Mercury Sable four-door sedan with a dent on the passenger-side door.

"She has not made contact with family, has not used her cellphone, medical card, or even tried to access her bank accounts since she was last seen. No one has any clue as to what happened to her," Taylor said.

Classification: Endangered Missing
Date Of Birth: April 8, 1970
Age: 43 years old
Height and Weight: 5'6, 220 pounds
Distinguishing Characteristics: Caucasian female. Blonde hair, green eyes.
Carlson has a small scar on one, or possibly both, of her knees. She may use the last name Iverson.
Clothing/Jewelry Description: A black jacket, a sweatshirt, blue jeans and a small pin with an angel design.
Medical Conditions: Carlson suffers from Lyme Disease; she contracted it in the 1990s and went misdiagnosed for years after symptoms developed. Her family believes the condition had been impairing her thought processes by the time she disappeared.

Carlson was last seen in Karlstad, Minnesota at 10:00 a.m. on October 2, 2013. She was driving a black four*door 2001 Mercury Sable with a dent in the passenger side door and the Minnesota license plate number 743*ECY; a photo of the car is posted below this case summary. She may have been en route to Badger, Minnesota or Brainerd, Minnesota. She has never been heard from again and her vehicle hasn't been located. Carlson left behind her belongings, money and five pet dogs. Because of her state of health and because it's uncharacteristic of her to leave without warning, authorities are concerned for her safety.

Reward being offered to help find woman who went missing 2 years ago
"It's been more than two years since a former rural Crosby woman went missing and the family has now put up a $1,000 reward for her return.

Dawn Carlson was last seen on Oct. 2, 2013 in Karlstad. Carlson lived in rural Crosby for 15 years and then moved to Lake Bronson years ago. In 2013, authorities said Carlson was driving a 2001 Black Mercury Sable LS Premium four-door sedan with a dent on the passenger door. Her last known destination was thought to be Brainerd or Badger."

Her name and face seem very familiar to me. .going to do some more digging

My first thought in cases like this is that she and the car are in the water somewhere between Point A and Point B.

Not a lot of water or winding roads in that part of the state. Mostly cross-country dirt roads across square platts.

Deceased

That really is/was the only body of water to cross on the way to Badger. I'm shocked she wasn't discovered much sooner.
