GA - Jerimiah Anderson, 11, shot to death, Atlanta, 9 Nov 1991

"Homicide investigators with the Atlanta, Ga., Police Department are seeking the public’s help to identify suspects in a homicide dating back to 1991. Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta is offering up to $2,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to an arrest and an indictment in the cold case murder of a pre-teen.

The murder occurred on Nov. 9, 1991, at approximately 11:30 p.m. Jerimiah Anderson, 11, was watching a group of men as they played craps at 600 Martin Street SE in the Summerhill Community of Atlanta. The boy was on his bike and accompanied by friends. Two men carrying weapons pulled up and got out of their vehicle with the intention of robbing the craps players. Jerimiah, his friends and the players started to run away. The armed men opened fire on the group and hit Jerimiah in the back, killing him instantly."

"A CBS46 News crew interview a witness the day after the shooting.

"Everybody was having a good time there just chilling, car pulled up they jumped out said, 'you'll need to lay it down,' and everybody started running," the witness said.

Atlanta Crime Stoppers received numerous tips after the shooting in 1991. Anonymous callers identified the shooters as Ray and Rod.

"We feel that Rod and Ray do exist. The community back then in 1991 knows who Rod and Ray is so what we're trying to do is reach out the residents from Summerhill in 1991 that know about this crime that know who Rod and Ray are, and call Crime Stoppers," said Velazquez."

"The crowd scattered after two men wearing masks got out of a stolen, tricked out Mustang and began firing a 9 mm and an AK-47 at the players on Nov. 9, 1991.

Jeremiah, shot in the back, fell beside the abandoned pile of cash. “They (the gunmen) stepped over him to get the money,” Velazquez said.

The maroon-colored Mustang they drove had been reported stolen two weeks before the shooting, and it was recovered the next day in southeast Atlanta, the detective said.

The case has gone totally cold, Velazquez said. The last tip called in to Crime Stoppers was in 2007.

But in many of the tips called in years ago the names Rod and Ray were passed on."

I can tell reading the thread there looking for black men.....That Rod and Ray. Did they check any suspects POI with the last names of Rod-man and Ray-man??..........They would be called Rod and Ray for short. Especially if they hung around the same crowd for a extended period of time. Since childhood perhaps. Could be brothers, cousions some relationship with different families etc............

This one is frustrating--think of the people who must know or have good reason to suspect who Rod and Ray are. From the calls to the tip line, they must have wanted to help. They knew they should help. I wonder if the Rod and Ray message was really given like that because they didn't know the last names, or because they were conflicted about 'snitching.'

Looking for the names Ray and Rod, was surprised to find the names in the Urban Dictionary, check under definition(B)

Atlanta police arrested two suspects Friday in the fatal street shooting of an 11-year-old boy nearly 25 years ago, their investigation renewed last year after a call from the victim's mother.

Jeremiah Anderson was shot once in the back around 11 p.m. on Nov. 9, 1991.

Police said they arrested Raymond McDaniel, 46, and Roderick Clark, 42, on Friday and charged both men with murder in the boy's killing. One of the men was arrested at his home and the other at work, police said, adding both suspects still live in the Atlanta area.

The two were in custody Friday and it wasn't immediately clear if they have lawyers who could comment on the charges.

Anderson and some friends were standing outside where several men were gambling on dice games when a stolen vehicle pulled up and two men got out to rob the gamblers, homicide detective Vincent Velasquez told reporters. One suspect had an assault rifle and the other had a handgun, and both opened fire as Anderson and others scattered.

Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene.

It appears the whole "Ray and Rod" was 100% accurate...couldn't be any clearer, they were not even nicknames or anything.
