WA - Patrick Alltus, 39, murdered in his Riverside home, 5 Oct 2014

Okanogan County Sheriff Frank Rogers says deputies from his office will be in Eugene, Oregon on Tuesday to interview 16-year-olds Shalin Alltus and Parker Bachtold. The two teens were taken into custody in Douglas County Monday afternoon. They were wanted for questioning in the death of 39-year-old Patrick Alltus.

Alltus' body was found Sunday evening. Deputies responded to Alltus' home after someone called to report they'd just found their friend dead. The Okanogan County Sheriff's office would not release the exact cause of death, but did say there was evidence at the scene that indicated there was "a lot of violence"...

Shalin is the niece of the murder victim and she and her boyfriend Bachtold were seen in Oregon on October 1. They were stopped by law enforcement for an undisclosed reason but were not arrested. However, on Monday evening, law enforcement in Oregon found the teens again, still driving the murder victim's vehicle, and put them in custody.

Detectives say the teens are the suspects in the murder of 39-year old Patrick Alltus. Shalin is his niece and she and Bachtold had been living with him. His body was found in his home in Riverside Sunday evening.

"They may hold the key to what went on here," Okanogan County Sheriff's Office Chief Criminal Deputy Dave Rodriguez said. "Right now we don't have a lot of definitive answers."

Deputies say Alltus was shot several times. They are still trying to figure out a motive for the murder.

Deputies said the pair had lived with Alltus for only two weeks after moving from the Yakima area.

Shalin had previously lived at a crisis center before Alltus took her in, according to deputies.

The Washington State Patrol Crime Lab has finished processing the crime scene at 151 Hosheit Rd. The only information they are releasing at this time is that the victim, Patrick Alltus, was shot several times. An autopsy will be scheduled for Alltus soon.

Hi dslilmama4life and welcome.....so sorry to read about Patrick's passing. If you don't mind me asking....how did you know him and what was he like? I wonder if he was generally close to the niece or if he just took her and her boyfriend in because no one else was able to at the time. How said that they apparently murdered him after he opened up his home to them.

Parker Bachtold ended up pleading guilty this past August and testified against Shalin Alltus at her trial. The jury found Shalin guilty and she was sentenced to 38 years in prison.

One of two teenagers charged with shooting death of a Tunk Valley man pleaded guilty to premeditated first-degree murder Tuesday, Aug. 16 in Okanogan County Superior Court.

Parker M. Bachtold, 18, was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Bachtold also pleaded guilty to first-degree robbery, theft of a motor vehicle, two counts of theft of a firearm and juvenile in possession of a firearm.

A five-day trial didnít reveal why two teenagers shot and killed 39-year-old Patrick Alltus at his Riverside home on Sept. 30, 2014.

But an Okanogan County jury was convinced beyond a reasonable doubt that his niece, Shalin E. Alltus, was just as guilty as Parker Bachtold.

Alltus was sentenced in Okanogan County Superior Court to 38 years and four months in prison on Tuesday.
