    FL - Jolena Kline, 42, Pensacola, 8 Oct 2014

    Richard Kevin Kline

Deputies Investigate Wife’s Suspicious Death, Seek Missing Husband
The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man that has been missing since his wife’s body was discovered in the couple’s home. Deputies are seeking 44-year-old Richard Kevin Kline. Kline has been missing since October 8 when his wife’s body was discovered at their Pensacola home, the Sheriff’s Office said late Friday afternoon. Escambia Sheriff’s deputies forced entry into a Corrydale Drive home in search of 42-year-old Jolena Kline after family members became concerned that they had not seen or heard from her in several days. Her body was discovered inside the home, and investigators said the cause of death is undetermined and is being investigated as a suspicious death.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

"When from a long distant past nothing persists, after the people are dead, after things are broken and scattered, still alone, more persistent, more faithful, the smell and taste of things remain poised a long, long time like souls, ready to remind us, waiting, hoping for their moment amid the ruins of all the rest, and bear unfaltering in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence the vast structure of recollection."

Hung jury in Kline murder trial

    http://www.pnj.com/story/news/crime/...rial/82708850/

The two day-trial of a Pensacola man charged with murdering his wife has resulted in a hung jury.

Richard Kline, 46, is charged with murdering his wife, Jolena Kline, 42, in their Myrtle Grove residence in October 2014. The key evidence linking Kline to the crime was a letter he sent to his ex-wife, Shannon Austin. In it, he told Austin and their daughter goodbye, apologized for putting them in a bad situation and expressed his "hate" for Jolena.

Prosecutors said the letter showed a motive for murder. Prosecutors said it was a heartfelt suicide note. After deliberating for about five-and-a-half hours, jurors couldn't decide which argument to believe. A mistrial was declared after jurors failed to reach a unanimous verdict.

Kline will now stand trial a second time at a yet-to be-determined date.

I realize that in my last post, it should have said: "Prosecutors said the letter showed a motive for murder. The defense argued that it was a heartfelt suicide note".

Richard Kline's second trial is currently underway.

Assistant State Attorney Bridgette Jensen told the jurors both Kline and his wife were having affairs and the marriage had hit a boiling point. She said Kline wrote a letter to his ex-wife, expressing his unhappiness.

"Essentially what this defendant wrote is how miserable his life was," Jensen told the jury. "He was living in a nightmare he couldn't get out of. He couldn't live with his nightmare, that nightmare (was) his wife, Jolena Kline."

But Kline's attorney David Dunkerley asked the jury to focus on the lack of evidence against his client. Jolena's body wasn't discovered until days after her death and it had started to decompose

After facing two different juries, a Myrtle Grove man has been found guilty of murdering his wife.

Man gets life for wife's murder

    http://www.pnj.com/story/news/crime/...rder/89905990/

A man has been sentenced to life in prison for the 2014 murder of his wife.

Richard Kline, 46, has been tried twice in the death of his wife, Jolena Kline. The first trial in April 2016 resulted in a hung jury, but Kline was found guilty of second-degree murder after a second trial in August.

Based on the nature of the crime and his relative lack of prior criminal history, Kline's suggested sentence was 20 years in state prison. On Friday, Circuit Judge Scott Duncan instead opted for the maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
